Icelandic metal duo Punks of the Empire make a thunderous return with the release of their full-length concept album “Gehenna,” available now across all major streaming platforms via Sliptrick Records and on limited edition vinyl in Iceland via Magnaðir .

Merging the unrelenting force of groove metal, metalcore, and thrash , Gehenna is a sonic exploration of mental collapse, deception, and fragile sanity. The album dives deep into the psyche of a man at war with himself—each track delivering a crushing dose of emotion and precision.

For fans of raw yet genre-bending heaviness, Punks of the Empire blend influences from extreme metal and alternative rock into a sound that is both blistering and unpredictable. Think the intensity of metal with the finesse of artistic experimentation.

Originally formed by Magni Ásgeirsson and Hörður Halldórsson , the project began as a way to fuse their vastly different musical paths—Hörður from the world of extreme metal, and Magni from rock and melodic traditions. Their 2021 debut EP Facade introduced this bold collaboration, but Gehenna takes it to an entirely new level.

Produced by Hörður and recorded at Studio Norðurhjari and Studio Tonak , the album was mixed and mastered by Hörður and Haukur Pálmason , showcasing meticulous attention to sonic detail while retaining the record’s raw emotional punch.

The physical CD version is released via Sliptrick Records , and a limited edition vinyl , specially mastered for analog warmth, is available exclusively in Iceland. Orders for vinyl can be made by contacting the band directly.
