What is MDR?
Metal Devastation Radio, also known as MDR , was established in September of 2013. I t was created by Zach and Marietta Moonshine as a tribute to “ The Metal Devastation Radio Show ”, which was aired on another radio station between 2010 and 2013. Metal Devastation Radio was created to be an all-inclusive radio station and website , incorporating independ ent music with mainstream music. Our main goal is and has always been to promote underground music from both unsigned bands and bands on small labels. MDR is fully licensed and legally able to play virtually anything, ensuring that any published bands receive royalties from every time they are played on the station . We p lay all genres of metal and rock , from the classics like Black Sabb ath to the most extreme, such as Belphegor . We draw no lines. We have even had the pleasure of hosting numerous interviews with musicians over the year s , to include legends like Doro and Megadeth.
Metal Devastation Radio currently has a roster of close to 30 different Dj's from all over the world who each connect to our central server in Germany . S ince we started in 2013 , we have had 377,717 different people t une in from 209 unique countries, for a total of 2,363,583 unique listening sessions as of 1/27/19. Our website has undergone many transformations to get to where we are today . W e are proud to offer our listeners and fans a fu lly integrated website that features the ability for listeners, bands, and companies to create custom profiles for social and promotional use as well as online band submissions. In addition to all of this, our website also features a “ live chat ” where listeners, DJs, and bands can interact with one another, creating a more personal experience. We also host blogs on a number of topics, and when our DJs are not on air, we still stream music from the thousands of songs and videos in our vault. MDR is a one-stop gathering place for metalheads and bands, and we pride ourselves on being able to give fans a truly interactive experience where they can connect with other people from all around the world.
