The track marks Simon Christie's debut performance with TITAN BLOOD, while welcoming back Cairns and Dolgy, who previously appeared on the project's 2023 album, The Call of the Wild. “The first single and album opener ‘Unite Them’ is as fierce as it is familiar, with return performances from Craig Cairns (vocals) and Aleks Dolgy (bass), and a debut performance with TITAN BLOOD from Simon Christie (guitars). The album reflects on stories that have had some influence in my life, from fantasy novels to retelling of lived experiences.” When the Tide Subsides continues Tony Rowe's ongoing journey of writing and producing metal on his own terms. Rather than functioning as a traditional band with a fixed lineup, TITAN BLOOD has evolved into an international collaborative project, bringing together musicians from different corners of the globe to bring Rowe's compositions to life. “TITAN BLOOD never formed, it only flows.” That philosophy has been at the heart of the project since its beginning. A self-taught keyboardist, Rowe originally focused on writing his own material for the simple satisfaction of creating music. After struggling to establish a local band due to differences in musical tastes and direction, he turned to the internet to find musicians who shared his vision. That search eventually connected him with vocalist Nicholas Allaire of ANTIOCH in Canada and guitarist Steven Miller in the United States, resulting in the recording of TITAN BLOOD's self-titled debut album in 2020. Bassist Klaus Müller of Germany later joined the collaboration, contributing bass, mixing, and mastering to the record. The project's sophomore album, The Call of the Wild, followed in 2023 and featured Craig Cairns on vocals, Aleks Dolgy on bass, returning guitarist Steven Miller, and Rowe taking over mixing and mastering duties himself. Over the following years, Rowe continued writing material despite changes within the collaborative lineup. When Steven Miller's involvement subsided, leaving a guitar-shaped hole in the project, Rowe continued moving forward. In 2025, guitarist Simon Christie joined TITAN BLOOD to contribute guitar performances to When the Tide Subsides. The result is the third TITAN BLOOD release, a collection inspired by fantasy literature, society, culture, and personal experiences. With “Unite Them” now available, TITAN BLOOD opens the next chapter with a track that combines classic metal spirit with a modern independent approach to songwriting and production. The band is marking the album's release with the official music video for “Echoes in Time,” giving listeners another look into the darker, more introspective side of the band's latest material. Mötley Crüe has released a previously unreleased 1981 demo of "Nobody Knows What It's Like To Be Lonely," offering fans an early glimpse into the band's formative days in Los Angeles. The track comes from the band's March 1981 demo sessions and will be included on an upcoming 45th-anniversary deluxe limited-edition box set celebrating Mötley Crüe's classic debut album, Too Fast For Love. The collection is due October 30. An official video for "Nobody Knows What It's Like To Be Lonely" has also been released. The band's growing reputation on the Los Angeles club scene soon attracted major-label attention, leading to a deal with Elektra Records in early 1982. Elektra issued a remixed and remastered version of Too Fast For Love in August 1982 with a revised track listing. The album eventually went platinum and helped launch Mötley Crüe into the center of the Los Angeles hard rock and metal explosion that would dominate the charts and MTV throughout the 1980s. The new box set will bring together both versions of the landmark debut, along with a substantial collection of previously unreleased and archival recordings. The 1981 Leathür Records version of Too Fast For Love will be available exclusively as part of the box set, alongside the 1982 Elektra version. Also included are two LPs documenting Mötley Crüe's 1982 performance at Perkins Palace, featuring early live versions of songs including "Looks That Kill," "Shout At The Devil" and "Knock 'Em Dead, Kid," several of which would appear on the band's 1983 classic Shout At The Devil. The collection also contains the complete five-track March 1981 demo session, a replica 7-inch single featuring "Stick To Your Guns" and "Toast Of The Town," and a reproduction of the band's original 1981 demo cassette. Blackened deathcore outfit Ov Sulfur are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Slayer's landmark 2001 album God Hates Us All by releasing their own rendition of the record's blistering track "Disciple." The cover is available now via streaming platforms, with an accompanying official video available on YouTube. Guitarist Chase Wilson commented: "'God Hates Us All' has always been one of my favourite Slayer records. I'm stoked we got to put our spin on one of the sickest songs on it!" Vocalist Ricky Hoover added: "I was excited when the guys decided to do a Slayer cover, as it allowed me to see if I could hit Tom Araya style vocals. He's a unique, stand-out voice in metal, and it was fun to see if I could add his signature melodic shouting to my repertoire." The cover arrives during a busy year for Ov Sulfur, who released their latest full-length album, Endless, earlier this year. The record sees the band continuing to push beyond their deathcore foundation, incorporating black metal elements and a greater emphasis on melody without sacrificing the band's extreme approach. Endless was praised by MetalSucks, which described the album as "heavy, dark, complex," while Blabbermouth called it "a confident and classy stride forward." King Diamond has opened up about Andy LaRocque’s departure from his namesake band, suggesting that the longtime guitarist may simply no longer have wanted to commit to the group’s increasingly demanding touring schedule. In a new interview with Metal Injection, King Diamond discussed the recent split with LaRocque, who had been a member of the band for approximately four decades. According to King, the decision was not the result of one particular incident or disagreement, but rather something that had gradually developed over time. “We are certainly still friends. That’s never going to change,” King explained. “I think it’s a gradual thing that’s just been going on. Different directions for a while.” King also addressed the possibility that the band’s increasingly extensive touring plans played a role in the decision. “I had a feeling recently that when Andy heard the new touring plans and the new plans overall, that it was not something that was... ‘Yay!’ But more like: ‘Oh my god!’” King said. “I don’t think he likes touring that much as we’re doing now.” The legendary vocalist went on to explain that several former members of King Diamond had ultimately stepped away for similar reasons, particularly when the demands of touring began to conflict with family life. “We tour longer now these days and we are gonna continue going that way because it’s very, very important,” King said. Despite LaRocque’s departure, King made it clear that he sees the change as a positive development for both musicians. “And that’s also why it doesn’t feel in this horrible thing because it’s something that is good for both me and Andy,” he said. “And we played it for 40 years. Think about it. It’s like crazy that you think about it has been that long.” GUS G IS NOW FULLY IN THE KING DIAMOND CAMP Replacing LaRocque is Firewind guitarist Gus G, who King emphasized is not simply being brought in as a touring musician. “This is not like a hired hand,” King stated. “He’s in the band 100 percent.” King said Gus will honor the established King Diamond sound while also bringing his own musical personality into the group. “He’s gonna copy and he’s as close as he can and fully honor that, that’s what people want to hear and see,” King explained. “But I want him to play his own style, but it must also fit with what we’re doing.” The collaboration could also extend into songwriting. King said he has encouraged Gus to contribute material and wants the guitarist to become immersed in the stories and atmosphere behind the upcoming King Diamond music. NEW KING DIAMOND MATERIAL IS ALREADY FAR ALONG King revealed that he already has an enormous amount of material prepared for future King Diamond releases, saying he currently has enough completed material and story concepts for roughly three albums. “I have enough for the first one and a half album on King Diamond, on that story that would be over three albums of just my stuff that is now musically ready to be recorded,” he said. He also discussed the upcoming album Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920, confirming that Gus G will perform the guitar parts on the album version. “We decided for Hank on one side and Mike Reed on the other side,” King said, describing the new guitar arrangements. “It livens things up in such a cool way.” King also teased one of the new songs, “The Nun,” describing it as featuring Hammond organ, changing time signatures, heavy sections, choirs and a guest vocalist whose identity he is not yet ready to reveal. He also hinted that he would like to bring in Uriah Heep guitarist Mick Box for one of the song’s three guitar solos. MERCYFUL FATE ALBUM NEARING COMPLETION While King Diamond continues working on his own material, Mercyful Fate is also deep into recording its long-awaited new album. King said Mercyful Fate currently has priority because of its deadline, with the album expected to be completed in time for Metal Blade Records to prepare its release. He suggested a potential Mercyful Fate release around May 2027, followed by European touring during the summer and a U.S. tour later in the year. The new King Diamond album would follow, with King anticipating a release around spring 2028 and a major tour supporting it. King also promised new stage productions for both bands, saying the King Diamond show will become “even more” theatrical. KING DIAMOND MOVIE ALSO ON THE WAY As if two new albums weren't enough, King revealed that a full-length movie chronicling his life and career has also been filmed over the past three years. The project has received support from the Danish National Film Institute and is intended to be submitted to film festivals. Rather than being a conventional documentary, King described it as a story about a Danish kid with enormous dreams who seemingly had little chance of making them a reality. The filmmakers reportedly went deep into King's history, uncovering archival footage from his earliest bands, including Brainstorm and Black Rose. And because this is King Diamond we're talking about, the film apparently won't be lacking in supernatural stories either. King recounted several paranormal experiences that have influenced his music, including an incident at Pennhurst Asylum involving unexplained cigar smoke that later inspired the Mercyful Fate song “Demon’s Night.” “MY VOICE HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER” King also offered an encouraging update on his current vocal condition, saying he believes his voice is stronger than ever. “My voice has never been better in my entire career,” he stated. He credited his current studio setup and vocal approach for helping him achieve the sound he wants, while also revealing his unusual backstage vocal-care routine: raw dark honey delivered directly onto his vocal cords with a syringe. While previous releases have explored fictional narratives and expansive concepts, Into Despair draws directly from real experiences involving pain, loss, suffering, trauma, and resilience. “What could be more intense?” Speaking with Metal Hammer Italia, Distant explained how the personal nature of the album developed naturally during the writing process. “It happened naturally. We hadn’t planned to do anything like this; during the writing process of this record, that’s just what felt right about it at the time.” The band also opened up about the emotional challenge of confronting those experiences through music. “It was definitely difficult to open up on certain topics, but at the same time it was also a sense of liberation.” That vulnerability has not come at the expense of the brutality Distant are known for. If anything, the band believes the emotional weight makes the music hit even harder. “What could be more intense than someone who pours into their music their own traumas, doubts and their own pain?” BACK TO THE ROOTS Musically, Distant say Into Despair finds them returning to the fundamentals of what made the band heavy in the first place, with a renewed focus on groove, crushing riffs and devastating breakdowns. “We are more focused on groove and heaviness. We want to leave people speechless, but also make them move their heads and even jump in some moments.” The band also emphasized that their evolution does not mean abandoning the sound their fans have come to expect. “The aggression without compromise and the breakdowns have not disappeared.” RICKY MYERS JOINS “ALL WILL BE (N)ONE” The album's single “All Will Be (N)One” features Ricky Myers of legendary death metal band Suffocation, adding another level of sheer brutality to the track. The collaboration grew naturally through Distant's touring history with Suffocation and their friendship with Myers. “We’ve done several tours with Suffocation over the last few years and Ricky became a good friend of ours, so we wanted to do something together.” The band knew Myers' voice would be a perfect fit for the song, and the result speaks for itself. “This song had a part that fit his voice perfectly and the end result was just that: simply perfect!” A RECORD ABOUT NOT BEING ALONE At the heart of Into Despair is the idea that even the darkest experiences can become something shared. Formed in Helsinki in 2025, PlusMinusZero may be a relatively new name, but the musicians behind the band bring decades of experience, a history of recording and touring together, and a lifelong connection to heavy music. Illusions of Life features 10 tracks of melodic hard rock and metal, combining catchy songwriting with a strong musical foundation and the experience of musicians who have already spent years on stages and in recording studios across Finland. The album follows the release of the singles “Runner’s High,” “Wasted,” and “Tears of Fire,” offering an introduction to the sound of PlusMinusZero ahead of the full album's arrival. FROM OLD FRIENDS TO A NEW BEGINNING The story of PlusMinusZero begins long before the band's formation. In the early 2000s, the musicians were already making music together, releasing three full-length albums with a previous band and touring steadily throughout Finland. Their experience took them from small bars and clubs to some of the biggest festivals of the era, with their live activity further supported by radio airplay and television appearances. That chapter came to an end around 2005 when the lineup disbanded. But the desire to make music never disappeared. Dr. Sundström and Iledelay continued playing together, exploring different musical styles and experimenting with various lineups. In 2010, they released another full-length album with a new band. The lead single from that Finnish-language album received attention on television, and the project would eventually become part of the path that led to PlusMinusZero. Through the years, vocalists and drummers changed, musical styles evolved, and different projects came and went. The core duo remained. Eventually, Dr. Sundström and Iledelay began asking themselves a bigger question: why keep moving away from the music that first inspired them? The answer was waiting where it had always been. Metal. BACK TO THE ROOTS The musical direction increasingly returned to the heavy music that had made such an impact on them when they were younger. Iron Maiden. Black Sabbath. Dio. Helloween. Scorpions. The classic metal bands that once filled record collections and appeared across the back patches of denim jackets became the signposts for a new chapter. As the band puts it: “Metal was, and still is, the answer.” In the summer of 2025, PlusMinusZero consisted of Dr. Sundström, Iledelay, and little more than a name and the desire to create something new. Then came two important coincidences. Pete joined as vocalist, followed by Janne on drums.
