North American death metal juggernauts CASTRATOR return with Coronation of the Grotesque , their long-awaited and brutally refined sophomore album, set for release on August 15, 2025 via Dark Descent Records . The band has also unleashed the official video for the track “Covenant of Deceit” , filmed by Bob Vigna of Immolation — now streaming at:

Following the devastation of 2022’s Defiled in Oblivion , the new record takes a sharpened blade to the band’s already ferocious sound. “We see it as a leap forward,” says drummer and co-founder Carolina Perez . “It’s by far the strongest work we’ve done to date. Writing Coronation of the Grotesque was incredibly enjoyable. Everything came together more naturally this time — it’s more refined, cohesive, and brutal.”

CASTRATOR’s creative engine is powered by Perez and bassist Robin Mazen , with lethal growler Clarissa Badini delivering unrelenting vocal venom. The addition of guitarist Sara Loerlein brings fresh fire to the lineup. “Sara has been fantastic,” says Perez. “She brings a ton of new ideas and her leads are absolutely killer!”

Thematic Depth & Sonic Savagery

Lyrically, the album is as fearless as it is ferocious. With themes rooted in historical atrocities and modern injustices, Coronation of the Grotesque takes on everything from the murder of Mahsa Amini in Iran, to ancient Sumerian eunuchization, to the exposure of convicted predator Naasón Joaquín García . Badini’s vocal delivery sears with clarity and conviction, cutting to the heart of every subject.

Jordan Milner tracked guitars and vocals at Obsidian Audio

Taylor Nordberg ( Deicide ) contributed additional guitars at Smoke and Mirrors Productions

Noah Buchanan ( Nunslaughter ) recorded drums and handled mixing/mastering at Mercinary Studios
