New York City’s Vajra return with their latest sonic storm, “Sub Specie Aeternitatis,” a gothic-prog metal masterpiece blending ethereal vocals with jagged riffs and cinematic intensity. Think Evanescence meets Lacuna Coil with a progressive twist that’ll grip you by the soul.

The official music video drops August 13, 2025 , showcasing a jaw-dropping, Kate Bush-on-steroids somatic dance performed and created by front woman/ songwriter Annamaria Pinna and guitarist Dave Sussman. Shot and edited on a zero budget, it’s a mesmerizing crescendo of movement and mood inspired by MoMA installations and classic ballets — all wrapped in Vajra’s signature ethereal vibe.

Produced by Sahaj Ticotin (Ra) and mastered by Howie Weinberg, the track dives deep into themes of eternal self-awareness and spiritual reflection, with lyrics inspired by Alan Watts and a 19th-century Rabbi’s timeless wisdom.

Vajra’s previous work has earned serious buzz, with singles like “Truth Has Many Lies” premiering on Revolver and hitting #2 Most Added on Mediabase Activator charts. Their “Love Is a Battlefield” video made waves on MTV Live’s Metal Thrashing Madness, proving Vajra’s power to bridge metal, prog, and alternative realms with an Eastern-infused flair.
