Australian Metal Extremists Make Their Return

Hold onto your ears, say goodbye to your loved ones, and grab the nearest cat— King Parrot has unleashed their first new music in five years. After a long silence, the Australian extreme metal maniacs are back, and they’ve gone straight for the jugular with the relentless track, "Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On."

This is just a glimpse into what’s to come from their upcoming album, A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot, set for release on June 6, 2025 . Known for their intense, abrasive sound, King Parrot are returning with an album that promises to be their most complete, aggressive, and urgent effort yet.

A Track Dedicated to the Haters

In a true King Parrot fashion, "Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On" wastes no time with subtlety. The title says it all, and the song delivers the message with unapologetic ferocity. Lead vocalist Matt Young explains the lyrical approach:

"Essentially, this track is dedicated to anyone that has ever crossed you, tried to belittle you or make you feel less than. The title is pretty self-explanatory. There's multiple people in my life from across the past few years that this song goes out to, and there's a special spot in the lyrics for each of them. Coward's, Abuser's, Bully's and Creep's, Fuck You And the Horse You Rode In On!"

An Epic Video Inspired by Trainspotting

The video for the track, a visual homage to the iconic movie Trainspotting, was directed by Dan Farmer of Farmwalker Films , the mastermind behind many of King Parrot's previous videos, including the Australian Music Video finalist “Shit on The Liver.” Youngy shares the challenges of creating the video, especially the infamous toilet scene:

"The video process for 'Horse' was challenging, it ain't easy recreating a scene where a bunch of dudes dive into a toilet bowl! We had the best time making it, but it certainly took a lot of effort and commitment from everyone involved. Our video producer Dan Farmer is a genius at his craft, and his ability to turn our visions into a reality is brilliant. Paying homage to Trainspotting was so much fun, and we hope we captured a video that people can return to for years to come."

A New Chapter for King Parrot

“A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot” marks a major step forward for the band, who took a meticulous, hands-on approach to their writing and recording process. Guitarist Andrew Livingstone-Squires and vocalist Matt Young led the creative effort, ensuring that every detail was perfect. From experimenting with guitar and bass tones to getting the drum sounds just right, King Parrot spared no effort in delivering their most solid studio performance yet.

Youngy also reflects on the vocals for the album, saying:

"Vocally, I rehearsed a lot so that when I recorded it, it was a breeze. We made sure to get every element exactly where we wanted it."

Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone Studios with engineer Luke Walton , A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot is their first full-length album since 2017’s Ugly Produce and their first new music since the 2020 EP Holed Up In The Lair.
