Band name and album title: Evilon with A Warriors Way

Genre: Melodic Folk Death Metal

Release date and label: They self-released the album on September 8th.

Other releases by the band: This is their second album, they previously released an EP.

How I met the band: We probably had the death metal weeks of strange genres at Metal Devastation Radio. Once again I am daring to release a genre that is not otherwise on my musical menu.

How do I find the disc: It's catchy, I can say that in advance. For the vocals they took inspiration from their compatriots Amon Amarth, but that's where the similarity ends. Where they rely on hard melodies that aren't too expansive, Evilon have made an ass bomb of the melodic pool. That probably explains the addition of folk, as this genre is known for exuberant melodies in metal.

The title track A WARRIORS WAY isn't bad. Rather quiet, a bit melancholic but also hard at times. They use the guitars to convey the melody skillfully. Where other bands use keyboards, they remain completely connected to traditional death metal instruments. A strong song if you like it melodically.

With FOREIGN LAND there is a certain similarity to AA. But only marginally, they remain true to their style, even if this track is a bit out of the ordinary. Hardly any high, beautiful melodies, but dark guitars that rarely play real melodies. Turned out really well.

Conclusion: Considering that it is melodic death, with folk in it too, I like the album quite a bit. If you like bands like Amon Amarth or Finntroll, you can really take a look here. So have a listen: fullmetalmayhem
