D'Monic Boris Lee (Boris Lee) is actually an American author best known for his work in horror fiction and as an entertainment columnist covering music and other arts.  Lee's anthology of short tales, ‘The Shadows of Insanity’, is a Best Thriller of 2020 Top Ten Finalist.  His fiction works are published in several other anthologies, including the forthcoming ‘Satan Ride's Your Daughter’ from HellBound publishing.  As an entertainment columnist, Lee's Symptom of the Metalverse publishes on Metal Babe Mayhem, covering album reviews and artists interviews. Lee has also published articles with the horror media website Morbidly Beautiful and contributes to his own blog, ‘Tales of the Creative Kind’.
Alison “MetalBabe” Cohen has been living and breathing rock n’ roll since she went to her first concert at 10 years old. She is a ‘rock journalist with a clothing line,’ and enjoys writing and editing for various publications, as well as running her own Rock n’ Roll Lifestyle Company Metal Babe Mayhem.
Metal Babe Mayhem, “Where Music and Fashion Meet,” was founded in 2006 and has over 30 unique designs available on a variety of clothing options for guys and girls. The Metal Babe Mayhem line also consists of hand-made guitar pick necklaces, rings, dog tags, bottle openers, flasks, stickers, patches, cowboy hats, tote bags, and more. In addition, they carry Licensed Band Merch from bands including Slayer, Motörhead, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, David Bowie, AC/DC, etc.
D’Monic Boris Lee has been working on a cover album for his project Boris & The Horribles. To date he has released three singles: “Judy Is a Punk,” (The Ramones) “Hard Luck Woman,” (KISS) and “Bark at the Moon” (Ozzy Osbourne) featuring guitar great Jimmy Adcock. All singles can be found on Spotify.
“Close My Eyes Forever,” which is a duet Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford released on Lita’s album ‘Lita’ in 1988. It will be the fourth single D’Monic Boris Lee and Alison “MetalBabe” Cohen recreated with Alison as one of “The Horribles.”
D’Monic’s vocals and music were recorded in North Carolina. Alison’s vocals, mixing, and mastering were done in Los Angeles by legendary producer Bill Metoyer. (Slayer, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Sacred Reich)
Alison was thrilled when D’Monic Boris Lee asked her to step into his project, to sing Lita Ford’s part in the duet (with Ozzy Osbourne) “Close My Eyes Forever.” She never in a million years thought she would have a professional recording of that song from Bill Metoyer.
The song was written by Ford and Osbourne as the result of an accident in the studio, during which they both drank heavily and inadvertently wrote the lyrics to the song together.  “Close My Eyes Forever” was Ford's highest charting single, peaking at number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1989 and peaked at number 25 on the U.S. Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. It was also Osbourne's highest charting single up to that point of his solo career.
I am sure between 1980-1990 there was a lot more duets recorded than we realize.  However, with just counting the eleven essential Rock ‘N’ Roll ones such as Queen & David Bowie’s – “Under Pressure” to Ann Wilson (Heart) & Mike Reno’s (Loverboy) “Almost Paradise” you must admit rather you like it or not that Lita Ford & Ozzy Osbourne’s – “Close My Eyes Forever” is a one and only.  An one could definably make a great argument that this is the greatest Rock duet of all-time or at least in the genre of Metal.
As much as I love Ozzy’s music, I never really cared for Ozzy’s vocal sound all that much.  Too me what has made Ozzy such a great artist was the fact he hired extremely accomplished musicians from Randy Rhoades to Zakk Wylde.
Musically, there is not much of a difference if any between Boris’s version and the original.  Vocally, now that is a different story.  They either added a few vocal effects to Boris’s vocals or Boris can pull off a very close Osbourne sound.  That is almost like what Boris did with his vocals on “Close My Eyes Forever”.  I say this because the band also has covered Kiss’s 1976 hit” Hard Luck Woman” and he didn’t use any vocal effects.  I thought his vocals sounded better without using the effects.
Let’s be one-hundred percent honest, “Close My Eyes Forever” is considered the greatest Heavy Metal duet off all-time. So, there is a reason why you do not hear very many cover versions of this song. If I was a member of Boris And The Horribles I think I would have tried to talk Boris into covering a different duet.  The song was such a huge success they could have covered this song with an Angel singing and it still would not have held-up to the original.
Due to huge parts of the world still feeling the financial effects of Covid-19, If it was me I would skip this one and purchase their version of “Hard Luck Woman” instead. - Blastmagazine
