http://initrecords.corecommerce.com/cart.php "’Widow Moon’ was the second song we wrote as a band, almost at the same time as our first song / EP, Photos of Eve. The two songs sound pretty different, which is why we decided to save it for this release. I'd just gotten my Bass VI in the summer of 2015, and the intro riff just kinda fell out as one of the first things I ever wrote on the instrument. To me, it's just a really fun song that goes through a few peaks and valleys, with a nice space-y midsection with lots of loops and layers, that ultimately finish with a cascading series of riffs that just get heavier and more intense than the preceding part. By the end of the song, all of us are playing at an intensity that closes things out on a pretty massive note. It makes for a nice conclusion for the album to finish with a similar intensity as it does when it begins." - Mike Britson
Following their inception in late 2015, the quartet, which at the time consisted of Mike Britson (bass), J.J. Anselmi (drums), Boone Julius (vocals/noise) and Erin Severson (vocals) started playing shows and soon after released their debut EP: one 20-minute song called Photos of Eve IX-XVI. The singular track is comprised of multiple sections, each peppered with odd time signatures and unexpected changes.
After additional touring throughout the Midwest, Former Worlds buckled down to finish writing its debut LP, Iterations of Time, which will be released on January 31 through Init Records. During the recording, Anselmi and Julius amicably parted ways with the band, while Severson and Britson charged onward, recruiting Eric Anderson (drums) into the fold, who helped finish the remaining instrumentation for Iterations of Time in summer of 2018.
Since then, Former Worlds has played shows with YOB, Cloud Rat, Bell Witch, The Chasm, Serial Hawk, Woman is the Earth, and several other mighty bands. With no signs of slowing down, the band is currently working on material for a second full-length record.
