American black metal stalwarts Abigail Williams have unveiled a towering new single, "No Less Than Death," marking the final and climactic chapter of their long-anticipated studio album, A Void Within Existence . The track, clocking in at just over nine minutes, is now streaming with a powerful lyric video via Agonia Records’ official YouTube channel : Watch here .
Slated for international release on July 18th , A Void Within Existence is the band’s first full-length since 2019’s critically acclaimed Walk Beyond the Dark . The album signals a bold leap forward in Abigail Williams’ ever-evolving sonic journey, blending melodic fury with atmospheric desolation and existential weight. It pushes the band’s sound further into extremes—both musically and emotionally.
Produced by frontman Ken Sorceron and mixed by the highly respected Dave Otero ( Aborted, Akhlys ), the album showcases a lineup firing on all cylinders. Behind the drum kit is the masterful Mike Heller ( Fear Factory, Ghost Bath ), whose precise-yet-chaotic performance serves as a backbone for the album’s expansive and emotionally rich compositions.
Lyrically, A Void Within Existence is steeped in introspection and metaphysical inquiry. Tracks like “Still Nights” and “No Less Than Death” delve into identity, loss, and distorted memory, evoking surreal dreamscapes and fractured realities. Songs such as “Embrace The Chasm” and “Life, Disconnected” touch upon cosmic nihilism, confronting listeners with emotional intensity and visionary dread.
“This record was born in the quiet hours, when everything felt hollow,” says Sorceron. “ A Void Within Existence isn’t just a title — it’s a feeling I couldn’t shake while writing. There’s a loneliness threaded through these songs that came from somewhere deeper than I expected. The world outside was falling apart, and in a way, so was the one inside. I wanted to push beyond the limits we explored on Walk Beyond the Dark . Sonically, emotionally, spiritually — nothing was off-limits.”
Sorceron continues: “I produced the album to stay close to that vision, and with Dave Otero on the mix and Mike Heller behind the kit, everything came to life exactly how I heard it in my head — raw, vast, and crushing. This is a record about absence. About peeling away what isn’t real — examining the void left behind. If there's anything left after that — maybe it’s the truth. Maybe it's just the void. Either way, this is the most honest I’ve ever been. A Void Within Existence is more than an album; it’s a crucible — a journey through the fire where only shadow and silence remain.”
Now entering their third decade as a band, Abigail Williams continues to reshape the black metal landscape. With a redefined lineup— Ken Sorceron (vocals, guitars), Vance Valenzuela ( Vale of Pnath , guitars), John Porada ( ex-Nachtmystium , ex-Wolvhammer , bass), and Mike Heller (drums)—the band embraces their most ambitious and emotionally devastating work to date. The record is visually anchored by stunning artwork from Eliran Kantor ( Testament, Bloodbath ), which captures the album’s themes of inner ruin and existential mythos.
With A Void Within Existence , Abigail Williams not only solidify their legacy—they transcend it.
For fans of Wolves in the Throne Room , Emperor , and Akercocke , this album is not to be missed.
