Band name and album title: Draghoria with Dangerous Species

Genre: Thrash metal

Release date and label: The album was self-released on May 21, 2023.

Other band releases: This is their second album after the last two EPs.

How did I meet the band: it's thrash metal and the cover is green? No wonder Metal Devastation Radio intrigued me. So let's see what these Americans are up to:

What do I think of the disc: The vocals could be a bit more pissed off, but the riffing packs a punch. So far, so thrash. The drums are there, nothing more can be said. Unfortunately, they keep adding passages that take away the heaviness of the whole thing, maybe they want to show that things can be quieter sometimes, but for me they seem out of place in the overall context, even if they make sense musically.

MURDER NATION sounds pretty good once you get the intro blaring through. This is where the bass comes into play. He growls his way through the whole song and although he's rather calm, I really enjoy him. Also on the plus side is that the hook is good and the track will definitely get a permanent place in the live set list.

HATE MACHINE is the closest I can get to how I like my Thrash, like I'm about to get a smack on the head. Here, by the standards of the album, they have reached their peak of aggression. As far as the vocals and the instruments are concerned, the music is really angry here and of course the bass doesn't sink into the mix either.

Conclusion: It's not bad, but I miss the aggression in the crowd. When I put on a thrash album, I want to be really angry after the second song at the latest, or if I was already pissed off beforehand, I want to feel understood, no matter what the songs are about. I miss that in most of the songs here. Still, thrashheads can really take a look: fullmetalmayhem

FFO: Exodus, Metallica, Testament

Short Bio: The father-son duo of Ronald Carrillo on lead guitar and Alex Carrillo on drums displays a duality of modernity and old-school thrash vibes that take the listener back to 1989. Riggs, an old school thrasher, takes the helm on vocals, while John Colucco, a member of the 90s NY metal scene, holds it down on the bass. Young gun, Ryan Nevins, brings speed and heaviness in as the rhythm guitar player. Our mission is to offer a new modern sound, while staying true to our old-school roots, offering hits of nostalgia to head-bangers, young and old.
