SEVENTH SERVANT - The Tree Of Life (Featuring Tim “The Ripper” Owens Judas Priest & John Greely Iced Earth) - Reviewed By allaroundmetal ! Check it out here at this link: https://www.allaroundmetal.com/component/content/article/26-releases/10171-i-seventh-servant-debuttano-con-un-album-troppo-lungo
The Seventh Servant are the band created back in 2006 by John Greely, former singer of Iced Earth (on the solo "Night of the stormrider"); despite having been active for many years, they only released one EP in 2018, to arrive in September 2022 to cross the finish line of the debut album, thanks to this "Tree of life". The album, released in a limited edition of 500 copies, consists of eight tracks for about an hour in duration, a sign that the compositions all have important durations. The songwriting, in fact, is not quite so immediate and flowing and the various listenings given to this record have never proved to be simple, but quite demanding. Numerous pieces would need a heavy "scissoring" to make them more captivating and engaging; while, in this way, the risk of being verbose and, consequently, boring is quite high. Then it doesn't help Greely's voice, quite low, not very sharp and almost not at all aggressive or energetic; his singing style is certainly particular and out of the ordinary, but in the long run it lends itself to monotony, precisely because it doesn't strike that much and one ends up remaining indifferent to it. On the other hand, the drummer Shawn Walker's work is excellent (for example in "Forevermore", a song which, if it lasted a couple of minutes less, would be truly remarkable!), who hammers right on his instrument from start to finish, without never spare. The Heavy Metal played by Seventh Servant is quite dark and sulphurous and, in some passages, precisely due to the work of the drummer, it incorporates some parts of Thrash, ending up recalling, coincidentally, Iced Earth. I have listened and listened to this record several times, but without ever being particularly impressed; even when the legendary Tim "Ripper" Owens sings, in "Jezebel" (another example of how a song could be interesting, if only it lasted much less), there was no possibility of remaining captivated and fascinated by it. In the future, Seventh Servant will have to heavily review their songwriting, in order to make it leaner and more effective, because in this way it becomes even more complicated to get to the end of the album. I'm sorry, but this "Tree of life" I don't think is able to reach the sufficiency. allaroundmetal

Seventh Servant is a progressive symphonic power metal band founded by former Iced Earth vocalist, John Greely. Their influences include Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Metallica. Their new concept album “The Tree of Life" is much more than your average metal release. It combines heavy metal with biblical scripture, and it takes listeners on a unique musical journey through the Book of Revelation. Each song has its own epic feel, building with intensity as it progresses. Their single 'Jezebel' features guest vocalist Tim Ripper Owens, formerly of Iced Earth and Judas Priest.
