Denmark is the home of heavy metal that has dealt with the occult, spirits and summoning for decades. It really doesn’t take rocket appliances to just look at the immense impact that both Mercyful Fate and King Diamond have had on the development of heavy metal as a genre. Right there at that epicentre in the early 80’s was Wasted who after reforming in 2013, releasing a comeback album in 2019 are now back with their fourth studio album ‘The Haunted House’.

See, ‘The Haunted House’, the Danish heavy metal is right there and therefore what the listener gets with this latest Wasted album is the Copenhagen band doing what they do best and on fine form. This is early 80’s metal in its purest form, there are no alloys here, this isn’t a trad metal band trying to capture the zeitgeist of a movement long gone, this is the sound of a band who were there… 3000 years ago! This is everything that any fan of that classic heavy metal sound could ever want as galloping riffs, foot stomping beats and old-school vocals wrapped up in a production that would fool the listener into thinking it was 1983 means that tracks such as ‘Mr. Black’, ‘Coffin Maker’ and ‘The King’ have all that appeal of Dark Wizard, Future Tense and Maltese Falcon. Furthermore, who can resist a track called ‘Metal Snack’. Om nom nom indeed.

‘The Haunted House’ is a thoroughly enjoyable album, it is instantly likeable and at under 40 minutes, the listener can play it over and over again without getting tired or bored. Bollocks to Danish bacon and Carlsberg, Wasted should have the signature of the Danish Crown instead. - Metal Digest

Location: Denmark

“The Haunted House” is the fourth album release from the Danish old school heavy metal band Wasted - probably the oldest heavy metal band in the Kingdom of Denmark since 1981.
With this new powerful and energetic ten track heavy metal release, “The Haunted House”, Wasted has been aiming for more sound, greater depth and many more details to the writing of the songs to compliment the horror stories and dark lyrics which defines this album release. The last track on the album “The King” is, however, from 1984 and has now been turned into an extended version with a whole lot of Denmark´s finest and prettiest lead guitar players showing off their “skills that kills”, bringing this song into the new Millennium in the most virtuosic way. It is obvious that the present line-up is by far the strongest and most powerful in the long history of the band, and with the release of “The Haunted House” Wasted are claiming their position as one of the currently hardest rocking bands in Denmark!
