Band Interview: TJOLGTJAR by Daniel M. Ryan

Tjolgtjar is a one man project from Illinois, USA, the brainchild of one Reverend J.R Preston. Preston is a multi-instrumentalist involved in several bands and projects including Lord Of Depression, Blood Cult, Xexyz, Bloodwoods, The Phibbes Experiment and Angelust. Tjolgtjar has been active since 1998 and released fourteen CDs to date (each of them are available for streaming at Bandcamp). According to Preston’s official Facebook page for Tjolgtjar, it’s not a performing band but a vehicle for his interpretation of black metal, in some ways similar to the one-man black metal projects that appeared across the western hemisphere in the 90s.
