Interview with EXPURGO

Expurgo was formed back in 1997 as Putrifocinctor, and was one of the first grindcore bands to emerge from Belo Horizonte/Minas Gerais, considered to be the cradle of Brazilian thrash and death metal according to the band. There was no grindcore scene when they started and they had to build from scratch while subverting minds from their local scene. Today Brazil is thriving when it comes to extreme music, with bands of different genres like Preceptor, Mata BorrĂ£o, Stomachal Corrosion, Chronic Ashes, Pathologic Noise, Scalped, Pesta, Necrobiotic, Colt 45, Dunkell Reiter, Hellcome, Agaurez and Mortifer Rage. All the members of this band describe their place in the scheme of things, providing info about their extensive collection of releases from 1999 to the present day, especially their latest releases. Expurgo is signed to the Brazilian independent label Black Hole Productions, recently shared the stage with grindcore legends Brujeria and plan to tour outside the country in 2018.
