Dutch/Slovak Deathcore Powerhouse Unleash Their Most Personal and Emotionally Intense Record to Date, Now Featured in Metal Injection's Weekly Injection of New Releases
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dutch/Slovak deathcore powerhouse DISTANT have officially released their highly anticipated new album, Into Despair, out today, November 6, 2026, via Century Media Records.
Marking a significant chapter in the band's evolution, Into Despair finds Distant exploring a more personal and emotionally raw direction, transforming real-life experiences involving pain, loss, suffering, trauma, and resilience into an uncompromising collection of crushing deathcore.
While maintaining the relentless aggression, devastating breakdowns, and punishing heaviness that have become synonymous with their sound, the new record places a greater emphasis on groove, emotional intensity, and the personal experiences that shaped its creation.
One of the album's standout moments is "All Will Be (N)One," featuring Ricky Myers of legendary death metal outfit Suffocation. The collaboration brings together two forces of extreme metal, adding another layer of brutality to an already devastating track.
The album's release is already receiving attention across the metal media landscape. Into Despair has been featured in Metal Injection's Weekly Injection of New Releases, alongside new releases from Hatebreed, Cult of Luna, and other notable names in heavy music.
Distant were also recently featured in Metal Hammer Italia for an in-depth interview discussing the inspiration and creative direction behind the album.
With Into Despair, Distant deliver a record that balances uncompromising heaviness with genuine emotional weight, offering listeners an outlet for confronting their own struggles through music. It's an album built from darkness, but one carrying an important message: nobody has to face that darkness alone.
Into Despair is available now via Century Media Records.

CIVILIS RELEASES CONCEPTUAL EP CHAPTER II: THE SLEEPING PROPHET
Venezuelan Modern Heavy and Progressive Metal Duo Delve Deeper Into Darkness, Technicality, and Human Destiny
Venezuelan modern heavy and progressive metal duo CIVILIS continue their ambitious conceptual journey with the release of Chapter II: The Sleeping Prophet, the second installment of the band's ongoing trilogy.
Originally founded in Venezuela in 2018 by Félix Molina (guitars) and Bertrand Cape (lead vocals, guitars), CIVILIS was created around a contemporary approach to heavy metal that combines modern tunings, powerful vocals, intricate progressive arrangements, and a strong conceptual foundation. Drawing influence from the likes of Heaven & Hell, Bruce Dickinson, and Nevermore, the band has developed a sound that connects the spirit of classic heavy metal with the technicality and atmosphere of modern progressive metal.
The band's story began in 2018 with their debut album, an eight-track conceptual work inspired by fundamental characters surrounding the life of the Messiah. The release quickly established CIVILIS within the Venezuelan metal scene, earning the band the "Breakthrough Band" award at the 2018 Melomaniac Awards in Venezuela. Their music also attracted international attention, including recognition from renowned Japanese metal publication BURRN! and support from international music technology brand IK Multimedia.
After several years of artistic development, CIVILIS returned in 2023 with Chapter I: Epiphany, launching a new conceptual trilogy and expanding the band's cinematic approach to songwriting. The EP explored the emotional retrospective of a character beginning to discover the consequences of his present through the experiences of his past. The release received attention from international media including Metal Hammer and La Heavy, further establishing CIVILIS' growing international presence.
Now, Chapter II: The Sleeping Prophet takes that story into darker and more technically demanding territory.
Released on October 17, 2025, the EP represents what the band describes as their darkest and most technical era yet. Through intense compositions, refined production, atmospheric passages, and an introspective narrative, CIVILIS explores the complicated relationship between experience, emotion, choice, and destiny.

"This EP represents our darkest and most technical era yet. It explores the weight of human decisions and how the surrounding experiences shape our choices, ultimately driving us toward an unforeseen destiny."

At the heart of The Sleeping Prophet is the transition between youth and adulthood, examining themes of anger, intuition, fear, and the consequences of human decisions. Rather than simply presenting a collection of songs, CIVILIS uses the EP as another chapter in a larger narrative, allowing the music and conceptual storyline to develop alongside one another.
Musically, the release balances crushing modern metal textures with progressive songwriting and the melodic character of traditional heavy metal. Soaring vocals, intricate guitar work, shifting arrangements, and atmospheric elements create a sound that is both technically ambitious and emotionally focused.
With Chapter II: The Sleeping Prophet, CIVILIS continues to build upon the foundation established throughout their career while pushing their creative identity into increasingly darker and more expansive territory.
Backed by international media coverage and a growing audience beyond their home country, CIVILIS represents a new generation of Venezuelan metal artists bringing ambitious, concept-driven heavy music to an international audience.
The journey is not over. The Sleeping Prophet is the second chapter.
Chapter II: The Sleeping Prophet is available now on major streaming platforms.

CATHARIA released its new single “Desolation’s Harvest” on October 30, 2026. The track is the latest preview of the band’s upcoming full-length album, Portrait of Antiquity, due in November.
Formed in 2018, Catharia draws on the cold atmosphere and ferocity of black metal, the weight of death metal, and a strong sense of melody. On Portrait of Antiquity, the band expands that foundation with a darker, more melodic and symphonic sound.
The album features John Harrah, Catharia’s new permanent vocalist. The band’s previous single, “Winter Solstice,” also featured guest vocalist Kassandra Chandler of Divine Martyr.
According to the band, the new material is “more melodic and symphonic than previous releases.” Portrait of Antiquity develops that direction through atmospheric passages and uncompromising heaviness.
Catharia is currently signed with Rockshots, while Portrait of Antiquity will be released independently. The album was produced and recorded with Jackson Ward at Strata Recording Studio.
With “Desolation’s Harvest,” Catharia continues the rollout for Portrait of Antiquity and introduces another part of the band’s evolving sound.

METAL MUSTANG BRINGS HIGH-VELOCITY DETROIT METAL TO THE FORE WITH DEBUT LP "AND THEY'RE OFF"
Detroit, Michigan | Metalcore, Thrash & Progressive Metal | Debut Album Out Now
Straight out of the depths of Detroit, Michigan, Metal Mustang delivers a powerful collision of melodic metalcore, progressive metal, and thrash with their debut eight-track LP, "And They're Off," released August 6, 2025. Combining dark atmospheres, explosive guitar work, aggressive vocals, and intricate melodic arrangements, the band brings a sound built on intensity, technical musicianship, and deeply personal songwriting.
Formed in 2020 by co-writers Christopher Nigel and Julia Mogylevski-Castillo, Metal Mustang has developed a distinctive approach that balances crushing heaviness with hypnotic rhythms, dramatic key and tempo changes, and extensive guitar work. Drawing comparisons to Trivium, In Flames, and Five Finger Death Punch, the band combines the aggression of modern metal with the melodic sensibilities and progressive elements that give its music a character of its own.
At the heart of "And They're Off" is more than just heavy music. The album explores personal loss, displacement, survival, alienation, and the determination to keep pushing forward when life delivers its hardest blows.
Tracks such as "A Candle in the Dark" confront the devastating loss of a young family member, while "Laker Of Tears" addresses the human consequences of war, occupation, and displacement, drawing attention to conflicts in places such as Gaza and Ukraine. "Bulletproof" tackles the daily grind of life's hardships, the pressures of work, and the determination to keep standing after taking hit after hit.
Other songs, including "Stepping Stones" and "A Flash In the Pan," explore perseverance and maintaining a positive outlook despite the struggles of everyday life. Meanwhile, "Six Feet Down" dives into the darker territory of loneliness, isolation, and feeling disconnected from the world around you.
The band describes the album as:
"Total high velocity dark metal muscle music straight out of the depth of Detroit."
That description captures the spirit of the record: aggressive, emotionally charged, and driven by experiences that translate into something both personal and powerful.
Metal Mustang's music is already finding its way onto the airwaves, with tracks receiving radio play from WHFR, Tattoo Metal, and Outlaw Radio. The band has also been building its live presence throughout Michigan and beyond, appearing at venues including Diesel Concert Lounge, The Blind Pig, The Token Lounge, New Dodge Lounge, and The Music Factory.
Their festival appearances include the 25th Annual Centurian Biker Festival in Ohio, along with performances at Shenanigans and Century Music Hall in Indiana. Metal Mustang has also shared stages with a diverse roster of national touring and established acts, including Mingo Indus, The Dead Deads, Sun Valley, Starkill, Kikin Valentina, Bad Marriage, Killer's Confession, Saving Vice, Failsafe, Oblivion Zero, and The Convalescence.
The band's current lineup features:

Christopher Nigel: Lyrics & Lead Vocals

Julia Mogylevski-Castillo: Lead & Rhythm Guitar

Darrin Balagna: Bass

Alex Hicks: Harsh & Background Vocals

Ron Rollin: Drums

" And They're Off" was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Raydon Studios in Keego Harbor, Michigan, by Mark Stewart.
With a sound that moves between melodic intensity, progressive arrangements, thrash-driven aggression, and dark emotional storytelling, Metal Mustang is carving out its own place in the modern American metal scene. For listeners looking for music with both muscle and substance, this Detroit outfit is worth keeping on the radar.
"And They're Off" is available now on major digital streaming platforms.

For years, Pathos & Logos have cultivated a distinctive sonic identity from the underground metal scene in Colorado, constructing an enormous, multi-layered wall of sound that consistently defies the limitations of a two-piece lineup. Drawing from the technical ferocity of The Black Dahlia Murder, the crushing rhythmic complexity of Meshuggah, and the hardcore-infused intensity of Vision of Disorder, the duo delivers a volatile combination of blistering thrash metal, infectious melodic hooks, and devastating polyrhythmic breakdowns.
On Verses, the band pushes its sound into even darker territory, balancing colossal, anthemic choruses with moments of calculated technical violence. The result is a record built around contrast, shifting between memorable melodic passages and crushing instrumental assaults without sacrificing the intensity that defines the band's sound.
Expanding their creative circle for the new album, Pathos & Logos have enlisted an impressive lineup of guest collaborators, including Devin of Suicide Cages, Erik of Oak Ash & Thorn, and Rhiannon of Torn From Existence. Their contributions add further depth and dimension to an already formidable musical statement.
Leading the charge is the single "Crown of Glass," accompanied by a striking black-and-white music video that captures the oppressive atmosphere and intensity of the track. Featuring the duo performing in stark silhouettes against a massive floor-to-ceiling screen, the visual presentation incorporates venomous lyrical imagery that splatters and bleeds across the backdrop. The result is an atmospheric, high-contrast production that reinforces the song's dark themes while putting the band's commanding performance front and center.
"The new video represents a lethal evolution. It is a calculated sonic and visual assault designed to crush and convert, and it succeeds at both."
Verses was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Kyle Neeley, whose production credits include The Black Dahlia Murder, The Human Abstract, and God Forbid. His involvement brings a powerful production pedigree to the band's latest chapter.
With four full-length releases behind them and a sound that continues to evolve beyond conventional expectations, Pathos & Logos are ready to make their next statement. Verses is a collision of technical precision, unrelenting aggression, and commanding melody, proving that a two-piece lineup can deliver the kind of devastation typically associated with a much larger force.
The order is set. The next transmission arrives November 27.

BABY ON A RAMPAGE Unveil “Failure of One’s Name” Video Ahead of Forgive My Figure EP
Bay Area progressive metal band BABY ON A RAMPAGE have released the video for “Failure of One’s Name,” the second single from their upcoming EP, Forgive My Figure, due November 12, 2026.
Co-produced with Scott Proctor, whose credits include Five Finger Death Punch, Machine Head, and Testament, Forgive My Figure marks a new step in the band’s sound, bringing together crushing heaviness, soaring melodies, and emotionally charged choruses.
“Failure of One’s Name” explores identity, grief, self-discovery, and healing through the personal perspectives of guitarist and vocalist Ash Lee and drummer Lyra Renninger. The track shifts between restless, technical instrumentation and melodic passages, building one of the EP’s most emotionally resonant moments.
The single follows “Reclaim,” released September 1, 2026. Its video was also released alongside the track.
BABY ON A RAMPAGE’s members first came together between the ages of nine and eleven at Bandworks, a local music school known for rotating student lineups. When Ash, Lyra, John, and Bruno landed in the same group, their instructors noticed an unusually strong chemistry and level of skill for musicians so young.
The band’s influences range from Metallica, Green Day, and Primus to Mastodon, Gojira, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Slipknot, Pantera, and Lamb of God, alongside Muse and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Forgive My Figure is out November 12, 2026.

Four Metal Devastation PR Clients Featured in Germany’s Legacy Magazine
HELLDRIFTER, FLIGHT OF ODIN, KÜNTSQUÄD and LIZZORD join an issue featuring Children of Bodom on the cover, plus major features on Silvertomb, Arckanum, Heilung, Sinister and more
Metal Devastation PR is pleased to announce that four of its clients—HELLDRIFTER, FLIGHT OF ODIN, KÜNTSQUÄD and LIZZORD—are featured in this month’s issue of Germany’s Legacy magazine. The issue features Children of Bodom on the cover and includes major features on Silvertomb, Arckanum, Heilung, Sinister and more. Metal Devastation PR’s clients add four distinct perspectives on heavy music through interviews, a band profile and album coverage.
HELLDRIFTER look toward their next album in a conversation about the lessons and working methods that have developed since Shell Of Inexistence. The Stuttgart five-piece tell Legacy they are currently working on more than 20 songs, taking an increasingly detailed approach to songwriting while continuing to put guitars at the center of their Old-School Melodic Death Metal sound. Vocalist Billy Kolins also discusses lyrics inspired by recurring events and concerns in the wider world, alongside plans to revisit the horror-film influence behind the band’s name. The feature touches on the group’s Kreator cover of “Murder Fantasies,” which they approached in their own style.
[jrEmbed module="jrYouTube" youtube_id="BAuld4f6phM"]
FLIGHT OF ODIN receive both an interview and a review for I Traveled The Crooked Path. The interview traces the personal, mythic and musical influences behind the American band’s double album, from singer and lyricist Xyra’s stream-of-consciousness writing to the group’s collaborative, self-produced approach. The release brings together the current lineup’s material with remastered tracks from the earlier Goddess In Smoke MCD. In its review, Legacy praises the album’s atmospheric combination of melancholic Doom Metal, Progressive Rock and psychedelic soundscapes, highlighting Xyra’s expressive vocals, the eerie piano passages in “The Ravens’ Eyes” and the standout guitar solo in “You Can’t Stop Me Now.” The album receives 11 points.

Australian grind outfit KÜNTSQUÄD discuss their evolving live sound, touring and the challenge of writing a third album. Guitarist Paula VC Damnzal describes the band’s effort to push their extreme sound further while retaining the distinct character that sets them apart. The feature also looks back at Satans Cock, the band’s recent live activity and their appearance on the Imperative Music Agency Vol. 21 DVD with “Psychotropic Lyfe.” KÜNTSQUÄD also share plans to bring their music to Europe and Japan for the first time next year.
[jrEmbed module="jrYouTube" youtube_id="xeeiwOvpmr4"]
LIZZORD are profiled in “Selfmade Speed,” a feature that follows the band’s DIY approach from songwriting and recording through to artwork. The German four-piece’s debut album, Cosmic Crypt, draws on ’80s and ’90s Speed and Thrash Metal, pairing high-velocity riffs with a two-part vocal approach. Legacy highlights the group’s hands-on production, including real drums recorded and refined in drummer Marcel Weber’s own studio, and the band’s commitment to making the music, lyrics and artwork feel like a unified work. Cosmic Crypt is scheduled for release on November 20.

Together, the features showcase four different paths through heavy music: HELLDRIFTER’s guitar-forward melodic death metal, FLIGHT OF ODIN’s expansive and melancholic sound, KÜNTSQUÄD’s uncompromising grind and LIZZORD’s self-made speed and thrash.

Atlanta black metal outfit CLOAK are preparing to enter a new chapter with the announcement of their upcoming full-length album, Above, Below, & Through, scheduled for release on February 12, 2027, through Metal Blade Records. The record marks the band's debut release for the legendary label and their fourth full-length album overall.
Alongside the announcement, CLOAK have unleashed the first single and accompanying music video, "Nigredo - Initium," offering listeners an initial glimpse into the darker, more expansive direction of the new material. Pre-orders for Above, Below, & Through are now available.
Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2013, CLOAK have steadily developed a sound rooted in black metal while incorporating a broader range of influences and atmospheric elements. Their new album represents a significant step forward for the band, both musically and conceptually.
The band describes the record as a continuation and expansion of their previous album, Black Flame Eternal.
"Above, Below, & Through takes everything that was great about our last LP, Black Flame Eternal, and amplifies it completely, while still standing as an album of its own," the band explains.
The album was shaped during a period of change, reflection, and creative inspiration. Its conceptual foundation explores themes of liminality and duality, examining the spaces between opposing forces and states of existence.
According to founding vocalist and guitarist Scott Taysom, the songs gradually developed around ideas involving life and death, dreams and consciousness, humanity and animal instinct, and the relationship between shadow and light.
"The main concepts of the songs were dealing with pathways between life and death, realms between dream and consciousness, shifts between beast and man, and the juxtaposition of shadow and light as spiritual guides," Taysom explains.
He continues, "The album title's meaning became clear, as something both all-encompassing and complete, but also something liminal and transitional. This is represented in both the songs and the band itself at the time of writing the album."
The new record also introduces a refreshed lineup. Founding members Scott Taysom and guitarist Max Brigham are joined by drummer Matt Morris and bassist Rafay Nabeel. The expanded lineup has helped shape what the band describes as its most massive and sonically expansive recording to date.
The production takes a different approach from previous CLOAK releases, emphasizing enormous, natural-sounding drums, rumbling bass, and guitar tones packed with attack and clarity.
Lead single "Nigredo - Initium" holds particular significance as the first song the band began developing with its new lineup. The track also serves as the opening gateway into the album's conceptual world.
"A tale of being marked from the beginning. 'Nigredo - Initium' was the first song we started working on as a new lineup, which is very fitting considering the translated title. It is the initial door that opens to the world that is Above, Below, & Through, and the start of a new dark age," the band states.
Above, Below, & Through was recorded with producer Alex Parra and drum engineer John Douglass. The album features striking cover artwork by Jordan Barlow.
With a new lineup, a new label home, and an ambitious conceptual direction, CLOAK appear ready to push their sound into darker and more expansive territory.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIZZORD UNLEASHES OLD-SCHOOL THRASH FURY WITH DEBUT ALBUM COSMIC CRYPT
German Melodic Thrash Metal Outfit Combines Classic Speed, Cutting Riffs and Strong Melodic Songwriting Across Explosive Debut
Album Release Date: November 20, 2026Upcoming Single: "Bring Out The Dead" – November 6, 2026Genre: Melodic Thrash Metal
There is still plenty of life left in the riff, and German melodic thrash metal outfit LIZZORD are coming to prove it.
Drawing influence from the uncompromising aggression of Slayer, the razor-sharp precision of Kreator, and the formative speed and songwriting of early 1980s Metallica, LIZZORD have built their sound around the essential ingredients of classic thrash while adding a strong melodic edge of their own.
The band will unleash their debut full-length album, Cosmic Crypt, on November 20, 2026, delivering a collection of songs driven by sharp guitar riffs, pounding rhythms, memorable melodies and varied songwriting. Rather than simply chasing speed for speed's sake, LIZZORD place equal importance on musical variety, dynamics and songs that stick with the listener after the final riff fades.
“We bring a debut album that combines the energy of classic thrash metal with a strong sense of melody,” the band explains. “Cosmic Crypt is packed with sharp riffs, driving rhythms and varied songwriting. Cosmic Crypt is aimed at old-school thrash fans who value musical variety alongside heaviness and speed.”
The road toward Cosmic Crypt is already underway, with LIZZORD steadily unveiling the album through a series of singles.
The campaign kicked off with "Hellzone," released September 3, 2026, introducing listeners to the band's high-energy approach and unmistakable old-school thrash influences.
The second single, "Harvest Doom," followed on October 10, continuing the buildup toward the full-length release and giving fans another taste of the album's aggressive riffs and melodic songwriting.
Now, LIZZORD are preparing to unleash their third single, "Bring Out The Dead," arriving November 6, 2026. The track will serve as the final preview ahead of the November 20 release of Cosmic Crypt, giving listeners one more reason to crank up the volume before the complete album arrives.
At the center of the project is a commitment to the classic metal values that helped define the genre in the first place: powerful riffs, memorable songs, aggressive performances and a willingness to let the guitars do the talking.
The album was produced, mixed and mastered by drummer Marcel Weber at INFERNAL AUDIO studio, giving Cosmic Crypt a production that allows the band's speed, precision and melodic elements to hit with full force.
LIZZORD are a self-managed outfit, with bassist Florian Thome handling the band's management and external contact. The group is currently focused on building its presence through smaller venues throughout Germany and working toward a club tour.
The band already have several live dates confirmed, including:
February 27, 2027Into The PitHof, Germany
July 3, 2027THRASHAMANIAPrüm, Germany
December 11, 2027Metal ConcertOberhausen, Germany
With Cosmic Crypt, LIZZORD aren't trying to reinvent thrash metal. They're taking the ingredients that made the genre great in the first place and putting their own melodic stamp on them.
For listeners who still believe that a great metal song starts with a killer riff, a driving rhythm section and enough attitude to rattle the walls, LIZZORD are ready to open the Cosmic Crypt on November 20.

WAYNE STATIC AND TERA WRAY UNAUTHORIZED DOCUMENTARY SET FOR JANUARY 9 PREMIERE IN LOS ANGELES
Filmmaker Matt Zane moves forward with the controversial documentary amid ongoing legal proceedings, public scrutiny, and reported threats.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Filmmaker Matt Zane has announced that his unauthorized documentary chronicling the lives of late STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static and his wife, Tera Wray, will premiere January 9, 2027, in Los Angeles, California.
The premiere comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between Zane and STATIC-X. On August 20, 2026, STATIC-X and associated parties filed a lawsuit against Zane seeking damages exceeding $1 million. The complaint includes allegations involving copyright infringement and other claims, which remain part of an ongoing legal dispute.
Zane maintains that his documentary is an important personal project honoring Wayne and Tera, whose lives and relationship he says he was asked to document. The filmmaker also says he has faced significant online backlash and threatening messages surrounding his decision to continue with the project.
Despite the controversy, Zane remains committed to bringing the story to audiences.
"It has been an incredibly difficult journey getting to this point, but regardless of everything I'm going through, I wasn't going to let Wayne and Tera down. Their story deserves to be told, and it's what they wanted," said Zane.
The private premiere event will take place in Los Angeles, featuring a post-screening Q&A with the director and select members of the film's cast. Press representatives and fans interested in attending are welcome to request access, although seating will be limited.
Those interested in attending the premiere can email WayneTeraRSVP@gmail.com for RSVP information.
Following the Los Angeles premiere, the documentary is expected to be made available online for free, giving audiences around the world an opportunity to watch the film.
The January 9 premiere marks an important milestone for Zane and the documentary, as the filmmaker moves forward with a project he believes will offer a personal perspective on the lives, relationship, and legacy of Wayne Static and Tera Wray.

TRIVAN CROWNED BAND OF THE MONTH AGAIN WITH MASSIVE 19,218,672-VOTE VICTORY!
Croatian Metal Powerhouse Dominates October's Battle of the Bands, Securing Another Championship With Nearly 20 Million Votes!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CROATIA: TRIVAN have done it again! The Croatian metal powerhouse has once again conquered Metal Devastation Radio's Battle of the Bands competition, earning the title of October's Band of the Month with an astounding 19,218,672 votes!
Following their previous championship victory, TRIVAN have returned to claim the crown with an even more staggering display of support. Nearly 20 million votes in a single month is a phenomenal achievement, demonstrating the dedication of their supporters and the growing international reach of their music.
Winning once is an accomplishment. Coming back and doing it again on this scale is a statement.
Founded in 2018 by guitarist Vanja Šantak and bassist Ivan Bertović, TRIVAN have steadily established themselves as a force within the Croatian metal scene. Like countless bands worldwide, their early momentum was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than allowing that setback to define their future, the band regrouped with renewed determination.
Following the pandemic, vocalist Tomislav Žiljak and drummer Robert Vlašić, formerly of Darkendome, joined the lineup, helping shape TRIVAN's evolving identity. Rhythm guitarist Marin Buljan came aboard in 2025, further strengthening the band's sound with additional layers of melody, power, and aggression.
FROM PERSONAL LOSS TO A CROWNED NEW BEGINNING
TRIVAN's latest single, "Crowned With Dread and Power," released September 25, 2026, marks the next chapter in a deeply personal musical journey that began with grief and evolved into a declaration of resilience.
The story began with the band's previous single, "Abyss of Crawling Shadows," released April 24, 2026. Written by Vanja following the loss of his beloved Cane Corso, Amon, who had been his loyal companion for nearly thirteen years, the song confronted the devastating silence and sorrow that followed such a profound loss.
Driven by crushing riffs, dark atmospheres, and haunting imagery, "Abyss of Crawling Shadows" explored grief, despair, and the struggle to find strength when everything feels lost. Its closing declaration, "I rise unbound, defiant in abyss," captured the determination to endure the darkness rather than surrender to it.
But the story didn't end there.
Following Amon's passing, Vanja welcomed a new Cane Corso, Baal, into his life. That new beginning helped inspire "Crowned With Dread and Power," a continuation of the emotional journey explored in the previous single.
Where "Abyss of Crawling Shadows" confronted the pain of loss, the new track shifts the focus toward transformation, strength, and reclaiming power in the face of adversity. Together, the two songs form a compelling narrative about enduring heartbreak, confronting the darkness within, and finding the strength to move forward.
Rather than pretending that loss disappears, TRIVAN channel those experiences into music that acknowledges the pain while refusing to let it dictate the future.
It's a powerful reminder that sometimes the heaviest music comes from the most personal places.
A SOUND BUILT ON INTENSITY AND EMOTION
TRIVAN continue to combine uncompromising metal aggression with songwriting rooted in genuine human experience. Their ability to channel personal struggles into dark, forceful compositions gives their music an emotional dimension that extends beyond the riffs.
Both singles showcase a band committed to evolving creatively while maintaining the intensity and atmosphere that define their sound.
With their latest release, TRIVAN continue to push forward, bringing their music to new listeners while building on the momentum of their previous work.
NEARLY 20 MILLION VOTES. ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP.
TRIVAN's October victory in Metal Devastation Radio's Battle of the Bands competition marks another major milestone in the band's journey.
With 19,218,672 votes, they have once again demonstrated the extraordinary enthusiasm of their supporters and earned another Band of the Month title.
The achievement reflects the commitment of the band and the people standing behind them, proving that independent metal continues to thrive when musicians connect with dedicated audiences willing to make their voices heard.
Metal Devastation Radio congratulates TRIVAN on their latest championship and thanks every fan who helped make this remarkable victory possible.
The crown is theirs again, the numbers speak for themselves, and TRIVAN are showing no signs of slowing down!

CHRIS MARAGOTH EXPLORES THE DARKNESS BENEATH THE SURFACE WITH NEW SINGLE “DARK THOUGHTS”
Featuring Cherry Summerfield on Clean and Harsh Vocals, the German Gothic Metal Project's Latest Single Precedes the November 27 Release of Bonds of Grief
Listen Now: https://song.link/CM-DarkToughts
Release Date: October 23, 2026Genre: Gothic Metal / Cinematic Symphonic MetalFor Fans Of: Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Dark SanctuaryLocation: Dessau, Germany
DESSAU, GERMANY – German gothic metal solo project Chris Maragoth explores the struggles hidden beneath outward appearances with Dark Thoughts, a dark and atmospheric new single featuring vocalist Cherry Summerfield and bassist Robert Tornow. Released October 23, the track is the second single from Maragoth's forthcoming album Bonds of Grief, arriving November 27, 2026.
Blending baroque-inspired instrumentation with gothic atmosphere and increasingly aggressive metal arrangements, Dark Thoughts moves from intimate melodic passages into a heavier, more intense sonic landscape. The result is a dynamic composition that balances classical elegance with the emotional weight of modern gothic metal.
The song opens with clean vocals accompanied by harpsichord, cello, and violin, establishing a restrained atmosphere steeped in classical influences. As drums, bass, and guitars gradually enter, the arrangement grows heavier and darker, building toward a more aggressive sound. Recurring harpsichord and choral elements preserve the track's cinematic character even as the metal instrumentation takes center stage.
Cherry Summerfield delivers a versatile vocal performance that follows the song's dramatic progression, shifting between melodic clean vocals and harsher passages. Her contrasting delivery reinforces the tension between the song's more delicate opening and its increasingly intense later sections.
Lyrically, Dark Thoughts examines the contrast between outward appearances and the struggles that remain concealed beneath the surface. Even when life appears fortunate from the outside, painful memories and persistent thoughts can tell a very different story internally. Rather than prescribing a single interpretation, the lyrics leave the nature of these struggles open, allowing listeners to connect with the song through their own experiences.
On bass guitar, Robert Tornow reunites musically with Chris Maragoth following their earlier time playing together in the band Kanit. His contribution anchors the heavier instrumental passages while helping bring the composition's darker atmosphere to life.
Dark Thoughts follows the instrumental single The Entrance (Renascentia), released September 25, offering a contrasting perspective on the musical direction of Bonds of Grief. Where the first single emphasized harpsichord, string quartet, and heavy guitars through an entirely instrumental arrangement, Dark Thoughts places the interplay between clean and harsh vocals at the center of a more direct gothic metal composition.
Together, the two singles reveal different sides of Maragoth's approach, combining classical influences, cinematic arrangements, and metal instrumentation to explore a range of moods and emotional landscapes.
The project also maintains a firm commitment to human creativity. Both the music and visual material surrounding Bonds of Grief were created without generative AI, reflecting Maragoth's dedication to an artist-driven creative process.
With Dark Thoughts, Chris Maragoth continues building anticipation for Bonds of Grief, an album that brings together gothic melancholy, baroque-inspired elements, and symphonic metal within a cohesive musical vision.
“Dark Thoughts” is available now on major streaming platforms and Bandcamp. Bonds of Grief arrives November 27, 2026.

West Tennessee's Doom and Sludge Metal Outfit Talks About Their Upcoming Self-Titled Debut, Their Explosive Delta Doom Fest Experience, New Music, Future Plans, and Why Everything Is Better Louder.
West Tennessee's own BURNT WITCH returned to The Zach Moonshine Show on Metal Devastation Radio for a special Devil's Night conversation packed with heavy riffs, underground metal camaraderie, gear talk, and plenty of laughs.
With their brand-new self-titled single already unleashed and their debut full-length album scheduled to arrive November 23, 2026, the band has plenty happening. Following their recent appearance at Delta Doom Fest in Memphis, we caught up with the guys to talk about the new record, their rapidly growing momentum, the festival experience, and what's coming next.
And naturally, there was plenty of discussion about amplifiers loud enough to rearrange your internal organs.
A NEW ALBUM WITH A HEAVIER, ANGRIER EDGE
The upcoming self-titled album, Burnt Witch, represents another step forward for the band, pushing further into aggressive sludge territory while retaining the crushing doom foundation that defines their sound.
When discussing the direction of the record, the band described it as:
"This album is very much more on the sludge side of the sludge-hyphen-doom genre."
They also weren't shy about the increased aggression.
"A little angrier, too. We got a lot of angst and aggression, for sure."
The title track, which shares the band's name, is already available, while fans who preorder the album through Bandcamp can also download "Drug Lust" immediately.
There's another bonus for Bandcamp supporters, too. The album preorder includes the band's complete live set from Delta Doom Fest, professionally captured and mixed following the performance.
The band credited the excellent live recording setup at Growlers and the work of sound engineer Jay for making the recording possible.
According to the band, the tracks were practically ready to go as soon as they got everything into the mixing process.
And there's more music waiting in the wings. The guys revealed they've already been working on material for their second album, with three additional tracks fully recorded and mastered that didn't quite fit the direction of the upcoming release.
Apparently, they're not planning on slowing down anytime soon.
DELTA DOOM FEST: A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
One of the biggest topics of conversation was Delta Doom Fest, the band's recent appearance at Growlers in Memphis.
The festival exceeded expectations, especially considering it was the first year of the event.
"We had no idea that many people were going to turn out and it was going to get the reception it did for a first-year fest."
The band was particularly impressed by the crowd response, including the appearance of a circle pit during one of the performances.
As the band pointed out during the conversation, you don't necessarily expect to see a circle pit at a doom show!
The guys also took time to recognize the people responsible for making the festival happen, including the organizers, volunteers, sound crew, and everyone who came out to support the underground metal community.
They specifically praised the organization and execution of the event, noting how smoothly everything ran despite the enormous amount of work involved.
As one band member explained:
"If you play in a band and have ever dealt with booking agents at various venues, you know how hard it is to set up anything."
The band also discussed the possibility of more events growing out of the success of Delta Doom Fest, with the overall experience helping demonstrate just how much potential there is for heavy underground music in the region.
LOUDER AMPS, BIGGER RIFFS, AND THE PURSUIT OF TONE
Of course, no conversation with a doom and sludge metal band would be complete without discussing equipment.
And Burnt Witch definitely has some opinions about volume.
During the interview, the guys talked about their rehearsal setup, where their amplifiers are cranked up to nearly the same volume they use onstage.
One particularly entertaining description involved the first time a band member experienced the group's full volume.
"It's like I suddenly became aware of my internal organs. It's hard to explain the vibrations."
That pretty much sums up the Burnt Witch live experience.
The conversation eventually turned toward amplifier choices, including Laney, Orange, Sunn, Sovtek, and the various pieces of gear responsible for producing those massive low-end tones.
The band also discussed the recent addition of a Laney amplifier and how it completely changed the way certain pedals and frequencies responded compared to their previous setup.
There's clearly no shortage of experimentation happening behind the scenes.
And apparently, there's an ongoing arms race between band members to see who can get the loudest.
As the guys joked, that's probably how every doom band eventually ends up with ten refrigerators onstage.
NEW SHOWS AND BIGGER PLANS FOR 2027
Burnt Witch isn't just focused on releasing the new album. The band is already looking ahead to a busy 2027.
They discussed booking opportunities, playing new states, and getting out in front of audiences they haven't reached yet.
Before that, however, they've got some upcoming dates to look forward to.
Their next announced performance is November 14 in St. Louis alongside Stonewielder, Granite Goliath, and Jadeed Entity at Utopia.
They also announced an appearance at Valley of Doom in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on April 10.
The guys are excited about continuing to build relationships with other bands from the Delta Doom Fest lineup and expanding their reach into new areas.
With new material already being developed and plenty of shows on the horizon, Burnt Witch appears to be just getting started.
MORE THAN JUST A BAND
One of the best parts of this conversation was hearing how much the band enjoys being part of the underground metal community.
From organizing events and supporting other bands to sharing equipment recommendations and helping promote the local scene, there's a genuine sense of camaraderie behind everything they're doing.
They also made a point of recognizing the people who helped make Delta Doom Fest possible, including Brutal Media for capturing footage of the event.
The band's approach is straightforward: keep writing, keep playing, keep supporting the scene, and have a damn good time doing it.
As the guys put it during the conversation, they're not doing this because they're getting paid.
They're doing it because they love playing music.
And that attitude is exactly what keeps the underground alive.

SUMMONER'S CIRCLE RELEASE NEW SINGLE “PIOUS” FEATURING HALEY GROW OF ARSENIC ADDICTION
Dark, Theatrical Metal Outfit Explores Faith, Manipulation, and Spiritual Surrender on New Single Featuring Guest Clean Vocals and Growls from Lady Arsenic
October 30, 2026 - Dark, theatrical metal outfit Summoner's Circle has released its new single, “Pious,” featuring guest vocals from Haley Grow, also known as Lady Arsenic of Arsenic Addiction. Available now on major streaming platforms, the track combines the band's ominous musical atmosphere with Grow's dynamic vocal performance, delivering a dark exploration of devotion, manipulation, and the price of surrender.
“Pious” confronts the darker side of faith, examining the promises of salvation and the consequences of surrendering one's identity to a greater power. Its lyrics evoke images of broken covenants, forbidden knowledge, spiritual submission, and the gradual loss of self, creating an unsettling narrative in which the promise of hope becomes entangled with control.
The repeated demands to surrender the flesh and hollow the soul reinforce the track's central tension between belief and autonomy. As the song progresses, its imagery shifts toward separation, uncertainty, and the fear of being found inadequate despite complete devotion.
Rather than offering easy answers, “Pious” leaves listeners with questions about faith, sacrifice, and what remains when the beliefs that once provided purpose begin to unravel.
A POWERFUL COLLABORATION WITH HALEY GROW
The new single brings Summoner's Circle together with Haley Grow of Arsenic Addiction, whose contributions include both clean vocals and growls. Her performance adds another dimension to the track's dark atmosphere, complementing the band's theatrical approach while bringing a distinctive voice to its unsettling subject matter.
The collaboration began after Summoner's Circle and Arsenic Addiction crossed paths at the Tennessee Metal Devastation Music Fest. The musicians connected through their mutual appreciation for each other's work, eventually leading to the idea of working together.
What started as an encounter between two underground metal acts developed into a collaboration that brings a new vocal presence into Summoner's Circle's musical world.
THE END OF AN ERA, THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER
“Pious” also holds special significance in Summoner's Circle's history. The single marks the final recorded contribution of former keyboardist Nadir, who played a role in the band's arrangements and orchestration before moving on to other projects.
His work on the track represents the closing of an important chapter for the band, preserving his contribution while Summoner's Circle looks toward its next creative phase.
The release arrives as the band continues to build on its distinctive combination of dark theatricality, intricate arrangements, and uncompromising heaviness. The collaboration with Grow also demonstrates the band's willingness to explore new creative territory while maintaining its established identity.
KEEPING THE DARKNESS ALIVE
Alongside the new single, Summoner's Circle recently released The Shape of Darkness Live, a three-track live EP captured during the band's 2025 Shape of Darkness Tour.
Available exclusively through Bandcamp, the release features live performances of “Apostle's Dogma/Cult of the Dead Sun,” “Chaos Vector,” and “Apostasy.” The EP captures the band's stage presence while preserving the raw character of its live performances.
With “Pious” now available and a new chapter ahead, Summoner's Circle continues to push forward, bringing its dark, theatrical vision to listeners through new recordings and live performances.
“Pious” featuring Haley Grow (Lady Arsenic) of Arsenic Addiction is available now on major streaming platforms.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LODE STAR UNLEASH NEW ALBUM DARKSTAR, PUSHING THEIR MELODIC HEAVY SOUND INTO NEW TERRITORY
International Alternative Metal Project Expands Its Sound With Heavier Guitars, Extreme Vocals, and Emotionally Charged Melodies
Album Out Now | October 23, 2026
International alternative metal and hard rock project LODE STAR have released their new full-length album, DARKSTAR, available now as of October 23, 2026. Bringing together heavier guitar work, extreme vocals, modern production, and the memorable melodic hooks that have defined the project from the beginning, the album captures a band continuing to evolve while staying true to its songwriting roots.
Built across continents, Lode Star features Kate Glock (vocals, keys), based in Ireland, and Jensen Rodolfo (guitar, bass), based in Canada. The two musicians began collaborating during the pandemic, developing their sound remotely and building a creative partnership that has continued to grow with each release.
With DARKSTAR, that partnership takes center stage. The album represents a more collaborative approach to songwriting, arrangements, and production, allowing both musicians to bring their individual influences into a unified musical vision. The result is a heavier, more expansive record that explores new sonic territory without sacrificing the strong melodies, emotional depth, and accessible songwriting that have always been central to Lode Star's identity.
Drawing inspiration from early 2000s heavy music while embracing a contemporary production approach, Lode Star combine the atmospheric intensity of doom metal with the hooks and drive of alternative metal and hard rock. Fans of Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, and Breaking Benjamin will find plenty to connect with in the project's balance of powerful vocals, memorable riffs, and emotionally charged arrangements.
Rather than chasing trends, Lode Star build their music around the fundamentals of effective heavy songwriting: compelling melodies, riffs that leave an impression, and songs that connect beyond the surface. On DARKSTAR, those foundations remain firmly in place even as the band experiments with more aggressive vocal approaches, heavier guitars, and new sounds.
The album's extended creative process reflects that ambition. As the musicians' partnership developed, so did their vision for the record. Instead of rushing toward a finish line, they allowed the material to evolve until it represented where they stood as artists.
"DARKSTAR represents how much we've grown together, both as musicians and as a band. This time around, the entire creative process became a truly collaborative effort, with both of us shaping the songwriting, arrangements and production. We brought our different musical influences together, experimenting with heavier guitars, extreme vocals and new sounds while keeping the catchy melodies and emotion that have always been at the heart of Lode Star. The album took longer than we originally planned because our vision kept evolving alongside our partnership, but we didn't want to rush or settle. Ultimately, DARKSTAR is a reflection of who we are as artists today, and we're incredibly excited to finally share it with everyone."
The release follows an established body of work that includes three full-length albums and an EP. Lode Star also attracted unexpected viral attention with their cover of Cryoshell's "Creeping in My Soul," introducing their music to a wider audience. Their work has received coverage from publications including Powerplay Magazine, Metallurg, and Odyssey, and has also been featured in Rocksmith 2014.
Mixed and mastered by Riccardo Pasini at Studio 73, DARKSTAR brings the project's evolving musical vision into focus, delivering a record built around the meeting point of melody, atmosphere, heaviness, and emotional expression.
With a transatlantic creative partnership and a growing catalog behind them, Lode Star continue to carve out their own space in modern heavy music, proving that strong songwriting and memorable melodies still have plenty of room to thrive alongside a heavier, more aggressive edge.
DARKSTAR is out now.
