NIKKI SIXX Posts Graphic Footage Of Rotator Cuff Surgery (Video)

MÖTLEY CRÜE   and   SIXX:A.M.   bassist   Nikki Sixx   underwent surgery on Tuesday (July 25) to repair a torn rotator cuff. He has since posted graphic video footage of the operation shot using a point-of-view (POV) camera captured from the surgeon's perspective. Check it out below, beginning at around the four-minute-fifteen-second mark. (Note: Viewer discretion is advised.)

Sixx   spoke about the procedure earlier today (Friday, July 28) on his syndicated radio show   "Sixx Sense" . He said: "Ten years ago or so, we [ MÖTLEY CRÜE ] were gonna open for   THE ROLLING STONES . I woke up the day before the tour started and I couldn't lift my left arm. I went to Cedars-Sinai hospital and they X-rayed me, MRI-ed me and said, 'You have a torn rotator cuff and we suggest you don't do the shows,' or, 'suggest you don't do the tour.' I'm, like, 'This is the dream, to open for   THE ROLLING STONES . And   MÖTLEY CRÜE   is an arena band, and we're gonna do an arena tour with   THE ROLLING STONES . There's a gonna be a lot of people there that know us too.' So this was a dream — one of my favorite bands. So I got cortisone shots, and I was fine. I've been getting cortisone shots for ten years, masking the pain. And it just was finally time to get it done."

He continued: "I talked about pulling off the road for a few years. And I feel so much better today than I felt a week ago — even though I'm in a sling and they drilled into my bones and they found a torn bicep as well in there. Because I was in so much pain all the time that it feels like I'm moving in the right direction. I mean, it was painful to play guitar or play bass for me — my hand would go numb. And that's, like, my whole life."

This is the second major surgery of 2017 for   Sixx , who previously underwent a two-hour hip replacement procedure in early April.

Sixx   said last month that he was "unofficially retired" from touring, explaining that "money has never been and isn't a driving force for me." He added that it was "nice to give 100 percent of my time to my wife and kids."

He did indicate that he has two new   SIXX:A.M.   albums in the works, as well as two books, an adaptation of the   MÖTLEY CRÜE   memoir   "The Dirt"   for   Netflix   and a stage version of his own autobiography,   "The Heroin Diaries" .

Sixx   toured with   MÖTLEY CRÜE   one last time in 2015, with the band performing a total of 164 shows to close out its career.

The past few years, he has focused on   SIXX:A.M. , which initially started as a musical offshoot of   "The Heroin Diaries"   but turned into an actual band. Its latest albums,   "Prayers For The Blessed"   and   "Prayers For The Damned" , came out in 2016. Via Blabbermouth
