Speaking in a recent episode of Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon, the iconic blues guitarist and singer, Joe Bonamassa, has shared his thoughts about the coronavirus and the economic damages that we have to face after this pandemic.
As we all know, the world is suffering from tragic deaths due to the coronavirus epidemic for the last two months. The biggest rock and metal bands postponed or canceled their shows, and there’s no clear information about when will everything back to the normal situation.
In a recent interview, Joe Bonamassa warned everyone about the social and economic damage of coronavirus. He said that people are unemployed again after the epidemic’s end and we have to talk and think about it.
Here’s what he said:
“I read in an article that Ticketmaster is – they’re using wordplay. If the show is canceled, they’ll release the box office, but if the show is postponed, they’re going to keep the box office.
Well, if it’s postponed past a certain sell-by date, people are going to go, ‘Listen, I spent $500 on four tickets and now you’re telling me I can’t get my money back, but that show is now in fall of 2022? I could really use the $500 on April 20th.’
You know, people are unemployed again, you’re gonna see a revolt if they try to pull that off because you’re gonna see acts that participate in that because they’re gonna feel like they were involved in some sort of hype.”
He continued:
“It’s going to be difficult, difficult for the acts too, if they have all this money in the box office and they intend on playing the show, they want to play the show, but they can’t, but they also have their own bills to pay.
It’s a very slippery slope that CEOs and these people above my pay grade have to figure out in a short period of time.”
