Lindsay Schoolcraft nominated for Juno award for solo album "Martyr"

Internationally acclaimed recording artist Lindsay Schoolcraft has been nominated for the 2020 JUNO Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards) for her debut album Martyr, which released on October 7th via her newly founded and totally DIY label, Cyber Proxy. Martyr is nominated for the Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year along with other contenders such as Kobra And The Lotus - Evolution (Napalm/The Orchard), Single Mothers Dine Alone - Through A Wall (The Orchard), and Striker - Play To Win (Record Breaking Records/Independent). The JUNO Awards are set to be held on Sunday, March 15 at the the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. To be eligible for a JUNO, musicians must be Canadian citizens, defined by CARAS as 50 percent or more of group members holding Canadian birth certificates, passports or are Canadian Permanent Resident(s) with residency in Canada during the last six months of the eligibility period. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Alessia Cara will host the show, which will be broadcast live on CBC. Artists who released albums between September 1, 2018 and November 8, 2019 were eligible for nominations. Deeply humbled by the nod, Lindsay has commented on the surprise nomination:

“I was seriously not expecting this! I am so honoured to be in this category with all the nominees, some who are great friends and have inspired me for years. This is such an honour and I wanted to thank the Juno Awards for considering Martyr to be a Metal/Hard Music album of the year. I am so looking forward to attending the event. This has been a dream of mine since I was a teenager.”

Lindsay is world-renowned as the keyboard player and vocalist with Cradle of Filth and created Martyr over the last few years while she toured the world with Cradle, keeping up with their demanding tour schedule and rigorous theatrical performances nightly. Co-written by former Evanescence drummer Rocky Gray, Martyr contains eleven tracks of majestic gothic rock, highly influenced by Schoolcraft's background in classical music, but with inventive, modern touches and cross-genre collaborations. A completely DIY venture, Lindsay concepted the album's creation and release at every level: writing, recording, building a team, marketing, launching her own label, setting up distribution, merchandising and fulfillment, and creating deluxe and custom album merch bundles that are uncommon at the indie musician level.
