Band Bio
INFIDEL RISING is a progressive metal band formed in 2012 by vocalist Travis Wills and drummer Wayne Stokely in Dallas, TX. Their current line-up includes ex-POWER OF OMENS members Chris Herring (bass) and David Gallegos (lead guitar) along with the eclectic solo-artist Rick Read (keyboard).
INFIDEL RISING released their first album independently in 2015 entitled Torn Wings of Illusion which has been described as "fresh and vibrant" and a "successful union of power and progressive metal" (2015, Angelic Warlord ). They can be heard on Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Google Music, and Pandora Radio.
Their sound is characterized by a fusion of power and progressive metal, with melodic vocals, and experimentation with orchestration, violin and ethnic sounds. They are known for having meaningful lyrics that speak of personal challenges, discovery, and hope for change.
INFIDEL RISING was originally a passion project of vocalist and composer Travis Wills. Who was inspired to infuse Dallas, TX's metal scene with a more progressive sound in the vein of FATE'S WARNING. He coerced drummer Wayne Stokely (MILLENNIAL REIGN, ex-PRETTY BOY FLOYD) in 2012 to help him make it happen. Travis and Wayne spent the next two years writing new songs, creating demos and recruiting more players, which resulted in their first solid lineup: Rafael Rivera (PARALLEL DIMENSIONS) joining the team, followed by keyboardist Aaron “The Doctor” Walton and bassist Daniel Almagro (MILLENNIAL REIGN). With this team, INFIDEL RISING was able to finish their first album and start actively playing live in venues around Dallas, Houston, and Austin.
Since then, INFIDEL RISING has grown into a solid voice in the progressive and power metal scene in Dallas, TX. They have been the primary support for such touring headliners as Anthra, Epica, Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, Primal Fear, and Sonata Arctica.
In 2017, health problems and creative conflicts in the band caused INFIDEL RISING to go on hiatus and seek changes in the lineup. Travis decided to actively seek musicians who could be creative partners, not just players. Fortunately, the timing was right with the disbanding of POWER OF OMENS, another Texas-based power metal band. Two ex-POWER OF OMENS were recruited: bassist Chris Herring and guitarist David Gallegos, both strong musicians and creative songwriters. David Gallegos is also active an active solo "nuevo flamenco" guitarist in late 2018 was integral in ushering in the final ingredient: eclectic composer and arranger Rick Read as a keyboardist.
INFIDEL RISING is a brotherhood of creative artists spearheading the progressive metal scene in Dallas, TX. They are actively performing in local Dallas-Fort Worth venues and festivals while finishing recording their 2nd album to be released later this year.
