Introducing THE HEARD, a new Swedish quintet comprised of a trio of former Crucified Barbara members, Skinny Disco from Deathstars and, well, a burlesque performer named Pepper.

The Heard was born somewhere between a subway station and a record fair in Stockholm 2016.

Ida, Klara and Nicki formed The Heard after the break-up of their former band, Crucified Barbara. The void left a hunger to create new music and when Klara met longtime friend Skinny (Deathstars) at a record fair it was obvious he had the same urge.

Another friend, burlesque performer Pepper, proved to have a voice to match her vibrant persona, so when Ida bumped into her in the subway she asked her to join the cult. The Heard was now a reality.
The Heard is all about the joy of playing music accompanied by a distorted and dark output. The music is brought to life by all five members through shortcuts and detours with a vision about a place where reality and mystery meet.

Debut album The Island centers around "Haunted Island" (Bla Jungfrun) in the Baltic Sea where "mysterious and unexplainable situations seem to occur far too often," say the band members. Two of the band members have ties to the mysterious island and while discussing some of the bizarre events that take place, THE HEARD decided the story was too good and that they had to make it the main subject of their album. “It was very clear to us that this was too interesting of a concept to let go of and we soon discovered as we went along that the experiences that had actually occurred were being confused with the fiction we were writing around it all.”
