New Jersey Death Metal Veterans Set to Unleash Nine Tracks of Crushing Darkness in 2027
New Jersey death metal outfit DISMA has officially signed with Hells Headbangers , setting the stage for the release of the band's long-awaited second full-length album, Exitum Profundus , scheduled to arrive during the first half of 2027.
Formed in 2005, DISMA has spent two decades carving out a reputation for oppressive, primitive death metal rooted in crushing riffs, suffocating atmospheres, and an uncompromising approach to the genre. The band's sound draws from the darker corners of extreme metal, channeling the grim weight of early death metal into a punishing sonic assault that refuses to soften its edges.
The band features vocalist and guitarist Craig Pillard, whose work on the first two classic albums from Incantation helped shape the sound of underground death metal. With DISMA, Pillard and the band have continued exploring a sound built on cavernous heaviness, deliberate pacing, and a bleak atmosphere that hits with the force of a collapsing tomb.
DISMA's releases have been relatively sparse, but the band's reputation has only grown over the years. Their 2011 debut album, Towards the Megalith , remains a highly regarded release among fans of crushing, atmospheric death metal. Two EPs released over the following decade continued to expand the band's catalog while reinforcing its commitment to a sound that prioritizes sheer weight and darkness over polish or compromise.
Now, Exitum Profundus promises to mark the next chapter in DISMA's uncompromising legacy.
The upcoming album is expected to feature nine new tracks spanning more than an hour of music , offering listeners an extensive return to the band's signature brand of oppressive death metal. Returning artist Ola Larsson will handle the album artwork, continuing the visual connection established through the band's previous work.
The partnership with Hells Headbangers will also extend beyond the new album, with plans underway for the label to reissue DISMA's back catalog across all formats, bringing the band's earlier material back into circulation for longtime followers and a new generation of underground metal fans.
Commenting on the announcement, the band delivered a brief but fitting declaration:
"Prepare for immense ruin and annihilation. The war has begun!"
Further details surrounding Exitum Profundus , including additional album information and release plans, are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
For fans of uncompromising death metal, DISMA's return signals another descent into the abyss.
