October 16, 2025 – Legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley , known to millions as The Spaceman , has reportedly been hospitalized and placed on life support following a brain bleed that occurred after a fall in his home studio earlier this month.
According to a report from TMZ , sources close to the situation say Ace has been on a ventilator for some time. Unfortunately, his condition has not improved, and family members are said to be considering the difficult decision to remove life support — possibly as soon as Thursday evening, October 16 .
Despite multiple rumors circulating on social media that Frehley had already passed, TMZ confirmed that Ace Frehley was still alive as of Thursday afternoon , remaining on life support. As of now, no official statement has been released by Ace’s family or management team, and fans are urged to treat unverified information with caution until confirmed by official sources.
Earlier this month, Ace canceled all remaining 2025 tour dates due to ongoing “medical issues.” The announcement came just two weeks after he withdrew from the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California, following what was described at the time as a “minor fall” in his studio.
At that point, his representatives said he had been advised by doctors to avoid travel and focus on recovery. Sadly, it now appears the injuries from that incident were far more serious than originally reported.
Ace Frehley — the original lead guitarist and founding member of KISS — first left the band in 1982, later reuniting in 1996 for their massive reunion tour before parting ways again in 2002 following the first “farewell tour.” Since then, Tommy Thayer has performed as the Spaceman during KISS’s later tours and final shows.
Beyond his KISS legacy, Ace built an impressive solo career that influenced generations of guitarists. His latest studio release, “10,000 Volts,” dropped in February 2024 via MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music) — a follow-up to 2018’s Spaceman . Frehley was reportedly working on “Origins Vol. 3” , the third installment of his acclaimed series of albums featuring covers of the songs that inspired him.
Ace’s band in recent years featured Ryan Spencer on bass, Jeremy Asbrock on guitar, and Scot Coogan on drums.
In one of his last interviews before this medical emergency, Frehley told Guitar World that he declined an invitation to perform with his former bandmates at the upcoming KISS Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas event.
“They asked me and I declined,” Ace said. “There’s no way I’m gonna be involved with that. Their biggest mistake is they should’ve done that at Madison Square Garden, not in Las Vegas in a 5,000-seater.”
Ace added that he was “having too much fun doing [his] own thing” — and even joked that he might eventually be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
As news of Ace’s condition spreads, messages of love and support have flooded social media from fans and fellow musicians alike. Hashtags like #GetWellAce , #SpacemanForever , and #AceFrehley are trending across multiple platforms, with fans uniting to send positive energy to one of rock’s most iconic guitar heroes.
Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley was born April 27, 1951, in The Bronx, New York. Known for his unmistakable tone, cosmic persona, and influence on hard rock guitar, Ace helped define the sound and image of KISS during their golden era of the 1970s. From writing and performing classics like “Shock Me,” “Cold Gin,” and “Rocket Ride,” to launching a solo career that inspired a new generation of shred-happy guitarists, Frehley’s impact on rock and roll is immeasurable.
