Legendary tribal metal warriors SOULFLY return in 2025 with Chama , their thirteenth full-length album, due out October 24th via Nuclear Blast Records . Forged in the primal fire between Brazil and Arizona, Chama channels frontman Max Cavalera’s signature blend of heavy, groove-laden riffs and spiritual intensity—delivering a record that both honors the band’s roots and pushes their sound into uncharted territory.
The first taste of the album arrives with “Storm The Gates” , a thunderous call to arms against greed and control. Driven by ancestral strength and tribal fury, the track captures everything that has made SOULFLY one of the most enduring forces in extreme metal. “ Chama is the Brazilian word for flame—it also means a calling ,” says Max Cavalera. “ This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire! I cannot wait to play these songs live for the Tribe! ”
Drummer Zyon Cavalera also stepped deeper into production duties on this record, noting, “ With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. Taking the band into new sonic territory was a blast, and I look forward to doing more production work in the future. ”
Recorded at Platinum Underground Studio in Mesa, Arizona, Chama was produced by Zyon Cavalera and Arthur Rizk (who also mixed and mastered). The album features contributions from Igor Amadeus Cavalera (bass), Mike De Leon (guitar), and a special guest spot from Dino Cazares ( Fear Factory ).
The artwork, created by Carletta Parrish , captures the album’s fiery spirit, while the tracklist includes titles like “Indigenous Inquisition,” “Nihilist,” and “Favela / Dystopia.”
