Ottawa, ON — Renowned instrumental guitarist Darren Michael Boyd has released his latest music video, "Side B" , an eerie yet electrifying instrumental piece that further solidifies his reputation as one of the most inventive and compelling indie guitarists today. The video premiered on August 4, 2025 , continuing Boyd’s distinctive genre-defying journey in what fans have dubbed "Spooky Surf" — a blend of high-octane guitar wizardry with moody, cinematic vibes.

“Side B” is a visual and sonic ride, channeling Boyd’s influences like Joe Satriani, John 5 , and Asterism , while carving out a world that is uniquely his own — where surf rock shreds through shadowy horror film aesthetics.

Following a string of accolades including Composer of the Year at the Red Carpet Awards in Europe and Best Music Video at The Alternative Film Festival in Toronto for “Perpetual Night,” Boyd’s momentum is undeniable. In 2024 alone, he earned three Josie Music Award nominations — including Musician of the Year (Guitarist) , Song of the Year for “Darkling,” and Instrumental Album of the Year for Hexalogy .

Boyd’s solo career emerged from personal adversity following a life-altering car accident — turning trauma into triumph with six full-length albums and over 20 self-produced music videos since 2019.
