Progressive Rock Visionaries THE FAR CRY Announce New Album Once There Was , Out Now!

Connecticut-based progressive rock outfit The Far Cry proudly announce the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Once There Was, released worldwide on March 1, 2025 .

Following the critically acclaimed debut If Only (2021), Once There Was continues the band’s commitment to lush soundscapes, intricate musical storytelling, and deep-rooted progressive rock traditions. Fans of classic and modern prog alike—think Porcupine Tree, Rush, Genesis, and Pink Floyd—will find themselves immersed in an emotionally resonant journey that merges complexity with heartfelt expression.

Formed by Jeff Brewer and Robert Hutchinson , longtime collaborators and veterans of the Connecticut prog scene (including tenures in the revered Holding Pattern), The Far Cry has always been about persistence, passion, and purpose. What began as a rekindling of musical dreams in 2013 has evolved into a vibrant, full-fledged creative force.

The current lineup features:

Chris Dabbo – Keyboards

The band’s debut If Only earned widespread praise across the global prog-rock community—from the U.S. to the U.K., Europe, and Japan—highlighted for its impressive musicianship, compositional depth, and classic-meets-modern aesthetic.

Now, Once There Was aims to expand that vision even further. While navigating setbacks—including the departure of original guitarist Bryan Collin —the band pressed on with renewed focus and a powerful sense of purpose.

"Progressive rock isn’t just a genre—it’s a language,” says Brewer. “And Once There Was is our next conversation with those who speak it.”

The album explores themes of time, memory, human resilience, and the bittersweet weight of experience—all wrapped in ambitious compositions, rich harmonies, and soaring melodies.
