THE BEAST

Death Rattle is an American metal band that blends elements of groove metal and metalcore to make something that is unique.  The band gained a lot of momentum touring both in the US and East-Asia in support of their 2017 release, Volition.  Drummer Chris Morin, guitarist Ryan Vanderwolk, and vocalist Trey Holton saw the departure of longtime members Jimmy Cossette and Kevin Adams from the band as their touring cycle ended and the three parted ways on less than amiable terms.  Determined to keep Death Rattle alive, they found a way to push through their differences following an extended hiatus and rekindle the fire they once had.  In the fall of 2022, the band entered the studio to begin recording their third full length record.    

In parts one and two of the biopic we saw the downfall of the band that led to their extended hiatus.  In part three, Death Rattle shows us how they repaired their brotherhood and the process they went through to continue as a band.  They also give us glimpses of the future as they take us behind the scenes of their writing and recording process as they gear up to release a new album in 2024.  We are allowed to see the band grow and create as they move forward toward their rebirth as a force within the metal community.  They talk about working with both Kevin Billingslea and Jens Bogren to craft their most ambitious offering to date.  This episode is a window into the work that is involved in the creative progression of a metal band.

Death Rattle has endured despite the challenges that they faced through the pandemic and beyond.   Taking nearly four years away from a passion for their music has refueled all three members of the band and they have plans to return stronger than they were before.   This three-part series has given us a view into the inner turmoil of the last four years and we can look forward to hearing their new record and seeing them on the road in the very near future.  View the last video in the series below:
