Frozen Wreath - Mea Culpa - Reviewed By occultblackmetalzine ! check it out here http://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/
Frozen Wreath are a duo From Hungary that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Mea Culpa" which was released by Filosofem Records.
Atmospheric sounding keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can b e heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and clean playing can also be heard at times.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with a few tracks also adding in a small amount of spoken word parts as well as the songs also mixing in a lot of 90's influences and remaining very modern at the same time. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Hungarian and cover suicide themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Frozen Wreath and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Az én vétkem" "Szabadíts meg a gonosztól" and "Búcsúlevél". 8 out of 10. occultblackmetalzine

All hope is gone: the second album of the atmospheric black metal band FROZEN WREATH is out now, entitled ‘Mea Culpa’! The Hungarian atmospheric black metal duo FROZEN WREATH released their second album ‘Mea Culpa’, after previously introducing the record with a truly dark and depressing music video. The concept album includes 7 songs in nearly 50 minutes. All the lyrics are about suicide, but from different kind of aspects; meanwhile musicwise the band still plays in the style of the second half of the 90’s black metal, in the same vein as old Dimmu Borgir, And Oceans or Catamenia. Filosofem Records released the album on CD, but it will be soon available on all streaming platforms!
