On this episode, we’re joined by the head of Niji Management, Wendy Dio, spouse and manager of the late Ronnie James Dio. Wendy joins us to promote two brand new DIO products, the DVD release of the "Dreamers Never Die" documentary and the Dio - "Studio Years (1996 – 2004)" box set.
Wendy is rock royalty, who single-handedly takes responsibility to keep the legacy and career of this heavy metal legend alive and vibrant, despite his passing over 13 years ago.
Wendy takes us on her personal journey from her time with Ronnie, from the point they were introduced at the Rainbow Bar and Grill, through every aspect and band of his career, and of course through his battle with cancer and eventual death.
Throughout the discussion, Wendy reflects back sharing some touching moments, funny ones and of course many very heavy metal memories.
We hear all about the new releases, and what is unique about them both, and she shares some exciting tidbits of what’s to come down the line from Dio, Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell, in terms of possible future releases.
In addition, throughout the conversation Metal Walt talks about just how big of a fan he is of Ronnie’s legacy and you’ll hear all about some of Walt’s memorable moments following his career and even meeting Ronnie in a one-on-one setting.
But most importantly, Wendy passionately talks about the importance of keeping Ronnie in the “present” and not the past, and just how she’s made it her life’s journey to assure that Ronnie’s music and spirit is carried down to the current as well as the next generations of heavy metal followers.
