The Thunder Rising project was born in 2012 at the behest of two old friends, Frank Caruso (who someone will surely remember as guitarist of the progsters Arachnes) and Corrado Ciceri, respectively guitarist and drummer.

The idea of the two friends is to communicate the essence of what rock is in its purest form. From that day, the band releases five works, and then peep out in March 2022 with this Back To The Time Of Rock, released under Music For The Masses, and from the cover that with a smile reminded me of the film "Back To the Future".

Has the quintet succeeded, then, in its own enterprise? Without too many words, the answer is yes, absolutely!  

And this is demonstrated by granite episodes such as the opener 'Fate Train', characterized, among other things, by rocky rhythms daughters of those years, an excellent recording quality, and the absolutely spot on sung by Alessio Spini, which really shines in this context. An excellent business card that opens the dances properly. We move on to more adrenaline rhythms with the more melodic 'Black Tiger', a captivating song that somehow also incorporates a keyboard sound that was so popular in seventies prog rock, and that we do not mind here. The ballad 'Im Still Alive', the fourth track of the lot, is not long in coming, and whose impact surprised me: it is a song with a solid structure, melancholic singing, a gentle guitar and a delicate keyboard. Well done.

'Timeless Blues' is that song that you expect and do not expect: it has the title that says it all, it is yet another tribute to the blues genre that seems a must for many rock musicians, and also offers well-known clichés, but compensates with technique, adrenaline and quality, revealing itself to be a very pleasant exploit. Oriental rhythms distinguish 'Nameless (cut version)', a two-part song that offers a series of references, now to post rock, now to progressive, revealing itself to be an instrumental, in its entirety, very successful. More raw and direct the next 'Escape From You', strong of a climate that is gradually enriched, up to a triumphant and rich conclusion. The explosive 'Stairs to the Top' closes the dances, a real reference to the 80s, with a light-hearted rhythm, chorus with choirs, and a guitar always on the piece.

So, we are closing. Congratulations. Congratulations for having proposed a record that brings us so close to those sounds in respect of which some are more distant, but to which they still feel a connection that immerses them in an unspecified nostalgia, so great is the world of rock. Back To The Time Of Rock is, in fact, a work that goes immediately to the point, created by musicians strong in pure passion, rich also from a technical point of view. A tribute certainly greedy for the nostalgic, but also for those who love the genre.

Born from the mind of the Italian guitarist Frank Caruso , known for his numerous projects such as Firehouse , Arachnes and Vivaldi Metal Project above all, superband Thunder Rising is back on the record market with a brand-new album called “Back to the time of Rock”, the Band’s latest studio effort. A rocky, melodic sound, hypertechnical and exquisitely hard rocking: this is Thunder Rising, which since their debut (featuring Mark Boals) on, have always pursued a musical dimension of their own, growing it step after step. “ Back To The Time Of Rock ”, out on March 4th, 2022, will be their first to be released by Music For The Masses . Twelve extraordinary tracks, a real time travel towards the re-discovery of sounds from the past but in a modern key, capable of striking and fascinating any listener. In addition, we’d like to point out a Bonus Track which will only be featured on the cd version and not in the Digital stores: “ Stairs to the top ”. The Band is currently shooting the Videoclip of the first single “ FATE TRAIN ” to be released in the forthcoming weeks.
