The Canadian black metal school, we know it by now. One of the bands that is often mentioned is Forteresse. Frontman Athros has found some time to build a new band or project from the frozen Quebec soil. This time he does this with Ekinox, who we know from Magister Dixit, among others. In 2007 this band released a very good album: My Anger Is An Eternal Field Of Demonized Mercenaries. Mankind's Demise was the label that released this record. In the meantime, this label has been discontinued. Too bad because a band like Sorcier Des Glaces also released some work through this record store. For Necromancer Awakens, the gentlemen of Mortiferous went to the Black Market Metal label.

With the help of a scratchy production, Mortiferous runs a boiling hot black metal stream over your body. Already at the first contact your skin becomes red, blisters develop and the underlying structures no longer seem to be safe. Delicious, that rudimentary black metal that you occasionally hear. However, don't get caught: behind a hint of simplicity and simplicity lies a well-thought-out musical framework. With a measured tempo change here and there, Like A Vortex Of Eternal Snow is a more than pleasant first acquaintance. On the sequel, Redeemer Of Assassins, you also hear a touch of death metal and everything is embellished with even more pungent vocals.

Frozen Dominions Untamed of The Ancient Grimoir Of Knowledge open in a rather Scandinavian way. The main melody of the first song, or the drum dynamics of the second song respectively, could just as well be found on a record of Dark Funeral or contypes.
A wonderfully rough, dog-aggressive, Scandinavian-inspired black metal album. Not really a typical Canadian school plate. Despite that, this is a band that cannot deny its background. - Zware Metalen

Black Market Metal Label is proud to present the release from Canadian/Quebec Black Metal upstarts MORTIFEROUS and their new album entitled Necromancer Awakens.

Though relatively new on the block, the parties involved in MORTIFEROUS should be familiar. For starters, there's the talented and ever-evolving Ekinox (Magister Dixit, Spirit of the Forest and many others) handling all instrumental duties. Then, on vocal duty,  there is the mighty Athros (Forteresse, Nordmen to name a few). The sound conjured by these two maestros on their debut Necromancer Awakens is high quality, original, Métal Noir Québécois, harkening back to the glory days of the genre.

On Necromancer Awakens, MORTIFEROUS open a tomb sealed long ago and release back in the world wraiths that we considered gone. Spiritually and musically inspired by the gods of the second wave of Black Metal, MORTIFEROUS’s debut album is highly recommend to the fans of the 90’s Nordic black metal era.
