Ron Coolen has had a long career in music in some form or another and got to know a lot of musicians. As a result he has a guest list too long to mention for his debut album for guitar and vocals, including George Lynch (Dokken/ Lynch Mob). He plays the drums, rhythm guitar (and does a few solos,) bass and keyboards and he is donating $1 from every CD/Download to guitar legend Jason Becker to help with the medical costs of debilitating ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.) The result is twelve tracks diverse in style and sound with some talented people on vocals and guitar. The first seven songs are strongly influenced by eighties hard rock with a warm, bright sound and some amazing soloing from the guests. Opener Big Devil Data has a solid driving bass beat, riffs and melodic picking; White Summer has a dreamy Asian tone and Zeppelin esque vocals under-pinned by a thumping bass, and Sin City is a classic sleaze rocker. Kill Kill Kill, Stories, and From Your Mouth add elements of thrash, being faster, mixing in some harsher vocals amongst the clean, heavier riffs and dive bombing guitars. Closer Selfishness has a trippy-hippy feel to it as it drifts from light and mellow to harsh, heavy riffs. - Loud Enough Magazine

Two other songs require special attention. First there is ‘Ashes to Ashes’ / ‘Paradise’ which is dedicated to the victims of the tragic Campfire disaster back in 2018. Their beautiful hometown Paradise was completely ruined by the fires. The victims and their families should never be forgotten.

The other song is ‘Too late to Surrender’ and this song pays tribute to the victims of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas in 2017. Similar to the Paradise song, the victims should not be forgotten! And it is important such tragic events can never happen again!

With the help of some great friends and musicians, Ron has made a passionate album with awesome music. Have a look and a listen on www.roncoolen.rocks and feel free to contact Ron on roncoolen@gmail.com and share your personal feedback on RISE.
