I have a bit of inner struggle in relation to certain classifications that involve the term "progressive" because I think they are too many cans, and much of this struggle ends up having the common point in relation to modern proposals that using a type of sound and ambiences (and above all voice). These common points become common places and condition analysis due to prejudice. Well, this is all to say that although we have elements common to what can be considered progressive, the band has its feet based on metalcore. And there's nothing wrong with that. The melodies are interesting mainly those that start from the clean voice but as a whole, this album is slightly derivative. It has its interest to fans of the genre but it takes a greater identity to better assert itself. - 6/10 -
Hailing from Raleigh, NC, Celaris was forged from the meeting of musical minds Rachel Pappalardo (guitar) and Joshua Rush (drums) in the Spring of 2018. Over the coming months, the duo picked up fellow locals Dan Mungal (bass), Chris Hesla (vocals), and Jon Pearson (guitar), completing their lineup. Influenced by groups like Veil of Maya, Periphery, ERRA, The Contortionist, and TesseracT, Celaris set out to make a mark on the same scene to make a mark on them. Their debut album, "In Hiding" (produced by the legendary Jamie King), is the first of many such marks the band hopes to share with the world.
