MYRKUR ON CURRENT SITUATION OF THE WORLD – “WE LIVE IN TIMES WHERE WE CRUCIFY PEOPLE WHO STEP OUTSIDE THE LINE”

While one might think that the black metal scene has become more open-minded and acceptant within the past decade, one-woman-project MYRKUR is the living proof that witch hunt still exists in the year of 2017. After being attacked, stalked and humiliated by haters through her social media channels on a daily basis, as well as at live concerts, Amalie Bruun aka MYRKURfaced troubles with anxiety, insomnia and nightmares and slowly started channeling them into her songwriting. The result is her impressive new album “Mareridt” (Read Our Review Here), out on September 15th via Relapse, being the lady’s second full-length release.

In this conversation with Metal Wani’s Anne Catherine Swallow, MYRKUR explains how she learnt to acknowledge her nightmares and deal with the phenomenon of sleep paralysis, remembers her first time on stage as a five year old girl and discusses the latest environmental disasters that the world had to witness.

She explains why fashion has never played a big role for her band but admits her secret love for vintage wedding dresses and reveals where she finds her stage outfits, that can also be seen on her upcoming European tour with Solstafir.

Furthermore she remembers her imaginary friends from her childhood that lived in a lamp next to her bed, and speaks her mind about recent tragedies in the world, suicide prevention and why philosopher’s would turn in their grave about today’s politics and people’s inability to discuss things out.Via MetalWani
