Acoustic artist Kitahrah unveils a deeply personal rendition of “My Immortal,” arriving September 26, 2025. Originally made famous by hard rock powerhouse Evanescence , Kitahrah’s version draws inspiration specifically from Dayseeker’s haunting interpretation , bringing a stripped-down acoustic approach to one of alternative rock’s most emotionally resonant songs.

For Kitahrah, “My Immortal” is more than simply a cover. The song has been a part of her life since childhood, when its haunting melody and unmistakable sense of sadness first captured her attention.

“As a child, I’d listen to the song and wonder about the sadness and longing in Amy’s voice,” Kitahrah explains. “As I grew older, the lyrics started to have more meaning.”

That evolving connection became the foundation for her own interpretation of the song. While “My Immortal” can evoke many different emotions and experiences, Kitahrah was particularly drawn to the themes of grief, death, loss, and longing that have resonated with listeners for generations.

Taking cues from the emotional weight of both Evanescence’s original and Dayseeker’s version, Kitahrah sought to capture those same feelings while putting her own vocal personality and emotional delivery at the forefront.

“With that, I feel that my emotional delivery has improved since Homesick , and I’m rather proud of that,” she says.

The result is an intimate acoustic performance that places the emotional core of “My Immortal” front and center. Rather than relying on a massive arrangement, Kitahrah allows the song’s melody, lyrics, and vocal performance to carry the weight, creating a vulnerable interpretation that feels both familiar and distinctly her own.
