The fire of thrash metal burns brighter than ever as Return to Darkness emerges from the shadows with their full-length album, “Eternal” , released July 2025 via Divebomb Records . For fans of Metallica, Slayer, and Pantera , this record delivers a punishing blend of technical riffing, melodic hooks, and relentless metal aggression.

Formed from the remnants of the early ’90s thrash outfit Out of Darkness , the band’s original members—guitarists Jon Ciorciari and Greg Paravati , drummer Forrest Leighton , bassist Sean Weiss , and vocalist Ron Roshong —reunited over twenty years later to finally bring their vision to life. With decades of experience and a renewed creative drive, Return to Darkness revives the band’s classic sound while injecting it with a modern edge.

“ When we were young, we would put our trust in others to bring our music to life, and the results were always far from what we had hoped for. I got into doing this for a living because of those experiences, ” says founding guitarist Jon “J Rod” Ciorciari .

Eternal was produced and engineered by Jon Ciorciari , with mastering handled by Jamie King at Jamie King Audio . The project was overseen by Mathew H. Rudzinski for Tribunal Records, Inc.

Thrash fans can expect a record that balances hard-hitting crunch with technical prowess, paying homage to the classic sound of early Metallica and Slayer while carving its own identity in today’s metal landscape. With Return to Darkness , the past meets the present—and the result is eternal .
