Aittala Interviewed in Metal Hammer – “From Memory to Modernity”
Aittala is back in the spotlight with a full-feature interview in Metal Hammer , diving deep into the creation of their new album Machines — a powerful return to songs written between 1990–1997, now brought to life with modern production.
“Personally, it was really a journey into memory,” reflects frontman Eric Aittala. “It allowed me to play these songs as I originally imagined in my head, instead of being limited by the technology of the moment.”
Drawing influence from doom, thrash, progressive and classic heavy metal, Machines bridges eras with emotional, story-driven songwriting. “These songs are 99% true to the original demos... but they sound as I always envisioned them.”
When asked about their evolution, Aittala shares: “There’s no conscious decision — I just channel the music as it comes. It’s always organic.”
Catch the full interview now in Metal Hammer and hear why Machines is more than just an album — it’s a time capsule reawakened.
