Founded in 2018 by a classically-trained Shakespearean actor and an auto mechanic, Thirteen Goats emerged from Vancouver, BC, but the band’s members share roots in the former Soviet Union, including Ukraine, Lithuania, Armenia, and Russia. This diverse cultural background influences their unique sound, as they aim to transcend the boundaries of metal subgenres. As the band puts it, “Are we Extreme metal, Death metal, and so on? We don’t care, and you shouldn’t either.”

Capricorn Rising, released on July 12, 2024, is a concept album filled with extreme rock and metal operatic themes. It follows the journey of the main character, Shepard, the band's mascot, who dons a goat skull as he raises an army of demon goats to liberate the Earth from humanity's greed and destruction. The album delves into themes of death and despair as Shepard grapples with his faith in humanity and ultimately makes a dark pact to become the Antichrist.
