Betelgeuse Announces the Release of New Black Metal Album Bajo el Amparo de la Putrefacta Cruz Out on August 31, 2024

Chilean black metal force Betelgeuse is set to release their highly anticipated album Bajo el Amparo de la Putrefacta Cruz on August 31, 2024. Emerging from the mystical forests of Los Angeles, Chile, Betelgeuse, a project conceived by multi-instrumentalist Felipe Cadenas in 2018, delves into the depths of nature, mysticism, and the ancient history of Chile with their raw and unrelenting sound.

Following the release of their 2022 demo Oppressor under the "Untrueness Prods" label, Betelgeuse has evolved into a powerful live act, now featuring a full lineup. The new album sees Felipe Cadenas once again at the helm of composition and vocals, with contributions from Benjamín Soto of Blood Oath on drums. The lineup also includes Nicolás Cavada on drums, Matías Astudillo on bass, Álvaro Mora on guitar, and Ignacio Riveros from Blood Oath on guitar, who also took charge of mixing and mastering the album.

Bajo el Amparo de la Putrefacta Cruz is a testament to the band's fiery disdain for Christianity, echoing the destructive potential of the red supergiant star Betelgeuse, from which the band takes its name. Just as the star may explode, engulfing the cosmos in a blanket of flames, Betelgeuse's music aims to bring about the fiery demise of the Christian ideology.

With a sound that fans of Black Funeral, Spectral Wound, and Drowning the Light will find both familiar and refreshing, Bajo el Amparo de la Putrefacta Cruz is poised to make a significant impact on the global black metal scene.
