One of the best things about metal in the modern era is the massive resurgence of proper, old-school thrash metal. This isn’t centred in one area either, this is worldwide with many bands throwing down the gauntlet and dancing the toxic waltz. One band which have taken this under their wing are Reanimator who have delivered their latest album ‘Commotion’.
Reanimator have had a career of dropping good thrash albums and it will surprise no one that ‘Commotion’ is any different. What a commotion it makes. With this album Reanimator keep one foot in the past, acknowledge their influences, what made them who are and yet, they keep looking to the horizon with a modern sound that has the great ability to manage to appeal to both fans of the old and new thrash metal without alienating either. Clocking in at 43 minutes, ‘Commotion’ isn’t an album which hangs around, it provides the listener with a headbangingly good time as ‘Burnt by the Witch’, ‘Wretched Affliction’ and ‘Out for Justice’ fire with all the enjoyability of Warbeast and Rigor Mortis as well as fellow Canadian’s Aggressor. Furthermore, there’s an air of good-time party feel in that true thrash style in tracks like ‘Necronomicunt’ and ‘Anti-Sobriety’ where it is impossible to not smile throughout.
With ‘Commotion’, Reanimator have delivered an album which is thoroughly enjoyable and there is a solid argument for it being the best album that the band have released. Therefore, anyone wanting to get their hands on some good-time thrash will find this album to be worth it. metal-digest

Since the creation of the band in 2005 by Patrick Martin and Maxime Cormier, Reanimator dug an important place in the Quebec Metal scene. Offering an incendiary Thrash Metal dotted with old-school and new school element, these guys are ready to kick some asses. With their first album ''Thrashin' The Neighborhood’’ on Galy Records in 2007 the group established venomous stage appearances, which left no fan indifferent. Touring Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, they finally came up with their first full length album called ''Ignorance Is No Excuse'' in 2009, which will let them perform next to bands like Municipal Waste, Exodus, Martyr, Quo Vadis, Cauldron, Aggressor, Brutal Truth, Macabre, Neuraxis, Augury, Soothsayer, Cryptopsy etc.. After nearly an hundred shows, the band split in 2011... to finally come back in force in 2013 with a new line-up and a new EP entitled ''Great Balls''. That new formation is now formed by Patrick Martin (vocals) and Francis Labelle (drums), both original members of the band. With the addition of the frenetic playing of Fred Bizier on bass and the furious energy of Joel Racine and Ludovic Bastien shredding the guitars, Reanimator became stronger than ever and crossed the ocean to tour Eastern Europe in May 2014 to reach tons of new fans. A couple of months later Reanimator went to into the Studio with Jef Fortin to record their new LP "Horns Up" which will be released in June 2015. "Horns Up" got a lot of praising reviews and lot of airplay in independent radios around Canada and USA After years of touring and a global pandemic, the boys are back with a new album featuring Philippe Lemire on guitars. "Commotion" was released to the world on September 16th and is blowing every metalhead mind.
