Stormbreaker are a new band from Finland, formed in 2021. Emerged from a solo project by singer Petri Tarvainen. The band is now a sextet with dual vocal leadership. The members have previously played in several other bands. And can therefore refer to a lot of experience. After the self-titled single (November 2022), the debut EP "Vengeance" was released in January.

The already released single "Stormbreaker" is right at the beginning of the EP. This is where the Finns really get going. First with the growls of Petri Tarvainen, which are later joined by the melodic singing of Anni Kokkonen. The two are driven by fast drums and guitar riffs. The guitar solo also comes from the high-speed metal area. The song lives up to its title and the band name. “Silence = Death” starts off just as energetically. Double bass attacks can be heard until Petri proves that he also feels comfortable with clear singing. But he always returns to his growls. Here, too, a guitar solo crowns the song. Synths open "Throne". Here the tempo is reduced a bit and more is done for the melodic background. 

"FFO: Arch Enemy, Beast In Black, Nightwish" can be read in the accompanying text. OK, for Arch Enemy there aren't enough evil growls, for Nightwish there aren't enough symphonies. But somewhere in the intersection of these three bands are Stormbreaker. Although I would rather tend to Sonata Arctica. After all, they play harder than Beast in Black. But what is such a drawer classification. Crucially, you can hear well-crafted melodic heavy metal here. Unfortunately only for a little over fourteen minutes. But I do hope that the band is already working on a full-length album. keep-on-rocking

  Stormbreaker is a six-member energetic melodic metal band from Eastern-Finland that was founded 2021. Itse was born from a solo project that Petri Tarvainen from Kolossus band had been working on. As the time went on the project took shape as a real band with a solid lineup. The members share an undeniable passion for playing metal music, and it has forged them together despite their 25-40 age range. The members have multiple bands from the past and the present that have gained them loads of experience over the years. The debut EP Vengeance will be released on the 20th of January 2023.
