Chaotic experiment between all genre chairs.

Behind the pseudonym 3MIND BLIGHT is Mike Boucher, who comes from the metropolis of Tulsa in the American state of Oklahoma and has so far appeared more as a producer for hip-hop, rock and metal bands. Since 2018, the American has also been on a solo path and is trying to push his own musical career. "Look On The Blight Side" marks the debut that Boucher recorded and produced single-handedly.

The thirteen tracks present a thoroughly chaotic mixture of the genres mentioned at the beginning, in which Mike previously earned his living as a producer, whereby the foundation is already crystal clear in metal. A pinch of Industrial and Crossover is added to the powerful riffs somewhere between STATIC-X, SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED, before the heavy rocking soup is served with an enthralling groove. Vocally, Mike oscillates somewhere between chanting and screaming, but in his best moments he can certainly evoke memories of a David Draiman, which closes the circle to the DISTURBED accusations with the guitars.

Actually, it all sounds like a quite explosive mixture that should fall on open ears. And yet "Look On The Blight Side" can only inspire me very moderately, because the songwriting hardly ever shows a red thread. The guitars fight their way from one dissonant riff to the next, the vocals often seem quite out of place and whenever a song just picks up a bit of momentum, it is interrupted by a strange break or a few synthesizer players that are too present. Of course, there are always a few moments that make you sit up and take notice. In the chorus of 'Illuminating Nightmares', for example, Mike vocally evokes his inner Sully Erna and spreads a very strong GODSMACK vibe. Likewise, opener 'Blight Side'

The bottom line is that "Look On The Blight Side" is more of a disc that has to be placed in the "Self-discovery" category. It is audible that the mastermind behind 3MIND BLIGHT is still looking for the sound he would like to use for his solo career and until then he is just wildly mixing up all the genres he has come into contact with so far.
