Tulus - Pure Black Energy - Featured At OccultBlackMetalZine ! Check it out here at this link: https://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2022/02/tuluspure-black-energyspulseller.html

Tulus  are  a  band  from  Norway  that h as  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  played  a  rock  influenced  form  of  Norwegian  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1996  album  "Pure  Black  Energy"  which  was  re-issued  in 2021  by  Soulseller  Records  and  also  consists  of  1991  rehearsal  tracks  and  their  1994  demo  "Samlerans  kammer"  as  bonus  tracks.

A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Element s of  black'n'roll  can  also  be  heard  in  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals.

Keyboards  and  stringed  instruments  can  also  be  heard on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  the  rehearsal  tracks  also  bringing  in  even  more  of  a  raw  style  than  the  album  as  well  as  the  1994  demo  songs  also  bringing  in  more  of  an  atmospheric  yet  raw  Norwegian  black  metal  style.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  Dark  Folklore  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Tulus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  Norwegian  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUD E "Samlerans  Kammer"  "Kaldt"  "Grav"  and  "De  dødes  attest".  8 out  of  10. - OccultBlackMetalZine
