In the Black Metal field, for our French neighbors it has been a decidedly intense year, with several releases all of thickness - first of all the latest release of the veterans Seth -; now, at the end of the year, another expected return: that of the Otargos. Expected - especially by myself - because the "Fleshborer Soulflayer" comes after six years from the discreet predecessor "Xeno Kaos" and, above all, because the right arm of the leader Dagoth, the guitarist Astaroth, who was missing in the two previous works "Apex Terror" and, in fact, "Xeno Kaos", returns to the line-up. And after the icy orchestral intro "Rise of the Abomination" introduces us to the seventh long-distance effort of the transalpine band, with "Incursion of Chaos" we can bless the moment when Astaroth returned to the formation. Compared to the last two predecessors, in fact, in "Fleshborer Soulflayer" we find the Otargos who resume that path of growth that - look at the case - seemed to have stopped; the harmony between Dagoth and Astaroth in the guitar phase is under the eyes of everything with this new release, excellently assisted by a new rhythm section, in which the bassist M. Pliszke is flanked by the new drummer Michaël Martin (ex-Exocrine). Science and science fiction are still the cornerstones on which the Otargos move, all amply amplified by icy sounds like deep space, but at the same time ferocious and murderous like the xenomorphs, the perfect killing machines of the Alien saga - of which the undersigned is a more than avid fan -. The Otargos put all their personality in the field here, moving on the paths for them sure of a sound that owes much to the fury of Dark Funeral and the hard, monolithic Death/Black atmospheres of Behemoth and Belphegor, in a crescendo of palpable tension from piece to piece with the flow of the tracklist. A tracklist in which the wisely chosen singles stand out, such as the brutal "Incursion of Chaos" and "Xenos" or the extremely 'Behemothian' title-track, but also songs that you will discover by buying the album (the sixth, semi-industrialoid instrumental track "Navigator" only if you buy the limited edition in Digipack), such as the gloomy "Blessed by Pestilence" or the earthquake-stricken "Cyclones of Steel".
With "Fleshborer Soulflayer" the Otargos shake off a certain static nature that can be found in the works of 2013 and 2015, although there is still an "anchor" that still does not allow the Bordeaux band to fully highlight their creativity (we refer to the Behemothian influences mentioned above). But despite this, we would like to promote the seventh full-length of the act French: from deep space (perhaps from the planet LV-426) a beastly creature seems to have awakened. And he's hungry, very hungry. - All Around Metal

The Korporation is proud to announce French Dark Extreme Metalers OTARGOS will raise multidimensional Hell for the 7th time with new album "Fleshborer Soulflayer" on Dec.10.

Marking the first studio recording with the band for new drummer Michael Martin (ex-EXOCRINE, ex-FLESHDOLL) and the return of former guitarist Astaroth that previously appeared on the band's 2007 to 2011 recordings, "Fleshborer Soulflayer" pushes the band's now trademark cosmic Blackened Death Metal sound ing even further in terms of brutality, heaviness and deconstruction sounding like a space-time travel through a black hole!

Again produced at France's Vamacara studio (Mercyless, Savage Annihilation...), the album will be released on a variety of formats including CD, vinyl, cassette & digital versions with a first single / music video made available for preorders launch on September 15.
