There are over thirty years of blasphemy to which the Norwegian Vulture Lord are dedicated... or at least on paper, since before this as a back titled "Desecration Rite" - fired by Odium Records - the last unreleased studio work was the EP "Blasphemy" of 2006, while even older, from 2003, is the album "Profane Prayer". So much time has passed also because, let's imagine, of other commitments of the members in formation, being all veterans of the Nordic Black scene starting with the singer and founder Sorath Northgrave (ex-Beastcraft among others), passing through the newly returned drummer Uruz (ex-Urgehal, ex-Crest of Darkness, ex-Endezzma, ex-Shining) and the guitarist Enzifer (ex-Urgehal), up to Mr. Maplas (Carpathian Forest, Endezzma). As musciists of this experience it is to be expected a great job and fortunately the Vulture Lords do not disappoint at all: the almost 40 minutes of "Desecration Rite" are a continuous hammering thanks to a very strong Black/Thrash à la Aura Noir vein "soiled" by a Darktrhonian Heavy/Punk attitude and by the Black of the Norwegian school of Urgehal and Carpathian Forest. Result: a ruthless album, composed of eight songs (we obviously do not count the intro "Glorification of the Dethronation") that are nothing more nothing less than eight shot already only on disc, we dare not imagine live that massacre can be pieces such as "Diabolical Intervention" (hands down the best of the lot), "The Vulture Lord", rather than the singles "Bloodbound Militia" and "Stillborn Messiah", or even "Prepare the Coffin", the most markedly Black Metal piece of this new effort of the Norwegian quartet. Guitars in chainsaw mode, an incessantly pounding rhythm section and Sorath's belluine scream vocals: the recipe that composes "Desecration Rite" is the simplest, but damn winning; if you want about forty minutes of violence in the wild with an adrenaline-pumping record from the first to the last second, then this brand new release by Vulture Lord, simply, is for you. - All Around Metal
