Inoculum is a five-piece metal band hailing from Maryland and Northern Virginia. With members drawing from a wide variety of influences, they deliver a searing barrage of hard-hitting riffs and melodic passages interlaced with harmonized singing and brutal growls. Inoculum takes a straight-forward approach when writing music, worrying less about technicality and focusing more on the creative process in order to do one thing: write songs that people will want to listen to again and again.
With trends and gimmicks abundant in metal music today, Inoculum ambitiously aims to stand apart from the crowd. By combining a tactful and attentive songwriting approach with passion, energy, groove and emotion, the band is determined to cast a new stone into the world of modern metal. With a major focus on melodically layered vocal-lines gracefully woven with grooving guitar riffs and poly-rhythms, Inoculum creates a musical experience that is fresh, organic and captivating.
Inoculum was established by Ashley Maccabee and Jeremy Sabine after years of playing together in numerous projects. The two then pulled in Dan Sutton on bass, a road-hardened musician who made a powerful addition to the team. Ashley recruited Brian Smith, having previously worked with Brian in Anubis Unbound, where his exceptional ability to write grooving, rhythmically-eccentric guitar parts did not go unnoticed. The band cycled through a number of vocalists until they landed on Alex Conner, a trained, well-versed singer and composer whose versatility and aptitude as a front-man is only matched by his determination. From its very first practice the band felt a synergistic energy and collectively realized the band had finally found its final form.
Inoculation is a means of introducing an antigen or a weakened agent of a disease in order to strengthen resistance to the pathogen or disease itself. Inoculum hopes that by incorporating crucial themes and topics that plague the world today, it can inject rationality, discussion, and a call to action against the ailments of today’s world.
Inoculum is in the process of recording and producing its debut EP “Antigen”, due to be unleashed in Summer of 2016, and will be touring on the east-coast in support of the release. Look for them on the roster of your nearest metal-friendly venue near you!
