Description
Cryptopsy is one of the most influential extreme metal bands. But what really makes them stand out is how they still hold their influence and revolutionize extreme metal. From their groundbreaking album None So Vile to their collection of The Book of Suffering EPs, Cryptopsy created a legacy that can’t be conquered.
I’ve seen Cryptopsy a few times already. But nothing like what I saw on the Hell Over North America Tour. Every song sounded perfectly, whether they were playing old or new material. And the crowd went absolutely nuts!
Cryptopsy is an entry-level band for youngsters such as myself. I discovered Cryptopsy around the same time I discovered just about all of the classic extreme metal bands that I love. But I still get those chills when I listen to them. Songs such as “Slit Your Guts,” “Benedictine Convulsions,” “Phobophile,” and “Orgiastic Disembowelment” (I pretty much named half of the None So Vile album) still give me chills. But you also can’t deny that Tome I and II are super badass. C’mon, “Framed by Blood” and “The Wretched Living” are incredible songs. And from what vocalist Matt McGachy said in the interview, we should start preparing ourselves for Tome III.
In my interview, McGachy discusses the Hell Over North America tour, his podcast Vox&Hops, Tome III, and their plans for the rest of the year.
