Dimorphos: when black metal and space exploration collide. https://3xperimental.bandcamp.com On 24 November 2021, NASA is launching DART: a mission to impact the small asteroid moonlet Dimorphos (which orbits a larger companion, Didymos, in a binary asteroid system) to change its orbital period. 3xperimental celebrates this first planetary defence project with a new track inspired by the mission. The song is named after the target asteroid and instruments describe the rhythms of the system: drum bass represents Didymos' rotation while the snare follows Dimorphos' orbit. The rhythmic parts are complemented by shrieking vocals and ethereal synthesizers fitting the outer space theme of the song.
