Blabbermouth Shares News of Matt Zane’s Upcoming Unauthorized Documentary on Wayne Static and Tera Wray

November 2025 — Acclaimed filmmaker Matt Zane has announced the upcoming launch of an unauthorized documentary exploring the intense and often tragic relationship between Wayne Static (Static-X) and his wife Tera Wray . The story, recently featured by Blabbermouth , has already stirred major interest across the rock and metal community.

According to Blabbermouth, production on the film will begin in January 2026 , coinciding with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign to help bring the long-awaited project to life. Zane, a longtime friend and collaborator of Wayne’s, aims to deliver the story as the couple intended — raw, emotional, and unfiltered.

“Most people are unaware that I knew Wayne for about 14 years, and I actually knew his wife Tera before him,” says Zane. “We were all close, and I worked on every project he did after leaving Static-X. I know this is something Wayne and Tera wanted done, and they wanted me to do it. I feel I owe them this — to tell their story the way they wanted it told.”

The documentary will feature never-before-seen footage and unreleased music created by Zane and Wayne for an abandoned film project years before his passing. Some of the material is now being revisited and completed using new technology to preserve Wayne’s artistic vision.

Zane is also reaching out to friends, colleagues, and associates of Wayne and Tera for potential interviews through EveryoneDiesTheMovie.com.

While the families of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, as well as the original members of Static-X, are not involved or endorsing the project, Zane’s goal is to honor their memory and shed light on a story that deeply impacted the metal world.
