Tohuwabohu 2020: a streaming-only, pay-what-you-want, worldwide metal festival

In these unprecedented times, Tohuwabohu Feastival is trying something different: bands and organisers come together to create a unique event, in an effort to bring at least one summer festival to the fans this year. TOHUWABOHU FESTIVAL is a stream-only, pay-what-you-want event broadcast live from the legendary Swiss KOFMEHL club, with full stage production, audio and lights. 

The lineup features Swiss metal legends SAMAEL, prog rockers CELLAR DARLING, ILLUMISHADE (featuring Fabienne Erni & Jonas Wolf of ELUVEITIE), and modern metallers KASSOGTHA. The festival is organised on principles of fairness and accessibility to all metalheads around the world, with tickets being completely voluntary and “pay-what-you-want”, all bands receiving a share of all revenues, and a portion of proceeds being passed on to a range of music-related charities. 

Organiser Merlin Sutter comments:

“It is our mission in these difficult times to focus not on cancellations and losses, but on the music, and to give fans, bands, and crew a chance to celebrate live music in a safe way despite the ongoing restrictions.”

Tohuwabohu is a real live show — not an acoustic session, not a living room concert, and no archive footage. All bands will play their sets on a proper stage, with full sound & light production, broadcast in real-time with professional cameras.

The festival was established by drummer and artist manager Merlin Sutter, currently of CELLAR DARLING and formerly of ELUVEITIE.
